So how some Audi don't offer them as an opion then? Guess they make more money with someone spending up an SE to Sline spec then they do selling an sline?

Hmmm, have to price up an se now! Do I really need those xenon lights and daytime LEDs.......

I was amazed how poor the halogens are on the SE compared to the Xenons on the XC60. My next Q5 will have Xenons.

I would suggest you are being cynical. S Line and Plus are good value for those who like the spec and I would suggest it makes production runs less complicated to limit the options.

Oh come on Missle....whilst I appreciate the options packs give good value for money and that many are more than happy with what they offer, you and I well know that audis have one of the longest options/customisation lists going! Ease of production runs cannot be a valid reason, there must be some other reason they allow you to spec any colour of your choice but limit the wheels you can have to one set when there are in fact others available?

As missile mentioned above speak with the dealer they may come to some arrangement regarding the wheels, the car maybe ordered on the 20"s delivered to the dealer and dealer changes them to the 19's you want as the miles on the tyres will be very very low and they can sell on as new to anyone else at dealer prices. It may be worth while speaking to dealers in your area to get some leverage to what you want as a sale is better to them than a no sale over wheels only when you want to spec the higher car S-line plus.
I hope you can find the best option and come out with the smile factor, happy hunting ...

I agree with dieseldoug on this one - if everyone wants 20" wheels why not try to do a deal with the deal and swap out with the standard 19" S-Line alloys - did it years ago when 18" were standard on a BMW M sport and I only really wanted 17"

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and advice.

I've now ordered the S line with standard 19" rims. The dealer needed my final spec by Tues for a reserved build slot so as to get a 1st Mar delivery. They were kind enough to hold out till today but I didn't want to push my luck or complicate matters by trying to negotiate the "trading" of wheels! As mentioned in another thread I also secured an approx 10% discount so am more than happy that they've donew their best for me.

As it is, The 19s have now grown on me! If it had been purely my car, I'd have gone with the 20" off roads but I have to remember that my wife and small child will be using it a lot and I'd prefer it to look a little more understated so not to attract the wrong sort of attention at the traffic lights!

Like GregH though, I would still be keen to know why Audi UK (and no doubt other countries) only offer certain options when in fact it is as easy to fit "wheel A" as it is "wheel B" seeing as they're all rolling down the same prodcution line and Audi generally offer a high degree of customer personalisation.....

OK this is how it works.

AUK (or the local country) are given end to end list of everything possible in terms of ordering from the factory.
AUK configure/spec the models/packages and options to meet the needs and price of the local markets, be that what wheel style is on the car, the paint options or that it gets 3 zone climate control.

Nothing to do with production simplicity, its about controlling the local market as well as the main reason - put as much as possible on the options list to generate cash while having a low RRP. Have you seen the spec of the SQ5 - its a joke

We have an Sline plus with the 20" off road style alloys and the standard (non sline suspension). The ride is extremely comfortable, in fact one of the best cars I have driven in terms of the balance between comfort and handling. The 2013 model suspension setup is certainly a big improvement to the pre facelift model. We also have 17" winter wheels and the ride is no different except for feeling a bit more jittery probably due o the narrower tread width.

As regards the blingness of the 20" wheels, your average passer buy will not notice any difference to the 19" wheels and I do not think many will be looking to thrash a q5 off the lights. My wife used to use my RS4 as a daily dive nod we changed it for the Q5 due to the same issue, since changing she has had zero issues.

Finally, you mentioned ease of cleaning. The 20" off road wheels have good separation between the pokes and are very easy to clean especially the complete inner rim du to additional clearance around the brakes due to the larger diameter. I just cleaned ours today and the 17" winter wheels are impossible to clean inside the wheel a there is no clearance.

I run on 19" wheels with the full ADS package and the car is comfortable and handles very well. 19" wheels are generally easier to clean because of less spokes to collect the brake carbon.
They also don't catch the kerbs as easily. I've had 20" wheels before and they are very easy to damage and costly to keep in good condition.
A small bonus if you're not using winter rubber is that a narrower profile is generally better in snow and a higher tyre side wall wards off snow hidden kerb stones.

Hi,
Have recently ordered S Line + for March 13 delivery. Notice though that revised brochure for Q5 (October 12) only gives you a choice of 20'' Titanium Optic wheels or 20'' with off-road package the standard wheel being the same as the Titanium Optic but in an alloy finish. Before this you could have opted for another polished 20'' alloy for the Plus model and paid the extra. Seems Audi want the S Line + to be even more exclusive. Also as stated in previous posts the satnav with + is the 3D HDD version as standard not the DVD based at no extra cost. Good or what?

I do not think the standard 20" wheels on the plus are particularly attractive. What do others think?

Interesting posts, in that I am in the same position as Stranexuk in that I have ordered PQ7 wheels which are probably the best looking wheels around, but want better comfort and easy cleaning wheels. Any more views on what I should do.

Hi coventry I full agree I did my wheels with this 2 weeks ago probably used way too much as it took me 3 hrs to do all 4 and I used the majority of the 100 ml 40 pound bottles !! But to be fair well worth the money I've never put anything better on my alloys in twenty five years , no matter how much crap the collect after one jet wash they come back as new without any work needed , first class product without a doubt
