I know this Is very much a personnel choice thing ..

.but can anybody tell me the basic difference between Ibis and glacier white and what they think is the nicest..

This Is connected to my earlier post (auto boxes) re my wife buying a A4 Avant multi in white...

thanks

Glacier White is a metallic and is what I have. I love it and when the sun catches it the metallic fleck looks great.

Ibis White is a softer slightly creamier white where Glacier is ultra white.

The Ibis white is a 'flat' white, a bit like tippex. Still bright, but not as reflective (if that's a word)
the Glacier white is a metallic paint, don't know the technical differences, but when the sun shines on it, it positively gleams.
In dull weather, the glacier white can look a bit flat, and maybe the Ibis looks better in these conditions, though not to me personally.
The Glacier is also around ÂŁ600 more expensive.
When I started looking for a Q5, I knew I wanted white, and I took an Ibis white demonstrator car for a test drive.
On return, the salesman told me to pull into a parking bay, and happened to be parked next to a glacier white model.
When I got out and looked at the two from about 10 yards distance, i couldn't believe the difference, it was a sunny day, and the glacier white was just shining and 'almost' made the Ibis look like a cream colour.
if you get the S-line plus model, the metallic paint comes with it.
I didn't even know the names of the two colours at that time, but knew I wouldn't be buying the demonstrator and would be opting for the glacier, which i did.
You need to go to an Audi showroom and see a couple parked together outside.

Glacier has a blue tinge to it if you see the two side by side. I have Ibis and find it a very crisp sharp white, keep it clean and well waxed and it can look incredible especially on duller days. For me I wanted the pure crisp colour and saw no sense in spending more on a metallic white.

If you want a pure white car.. Ibis white would be best..

If you like a blue tint in sunlight then glacier white.. Also costs more on the SQ5.

I think the ibis white is a great colour... My SQ5 is ibis white and looks great with the red calipers..

whenever I see a white car and think "it looks great", its always closer to ibis white than glacier....

I've had my glacier white about 10 months now and can't say I've noticed any particularly blue tinge, in any weather conditions.

put it another way...there is never ÂŁ600 worth of difference.
personally think the money would be better spent on other worthwhile extras like elec tailgate or heated seats etc.

My dealer showed me one in the showroom when I was test driving and there was a definite light blue tinge to it.

Think I'll have to take mine back to dealership and demand my blue tint/tinge from the warranty.

Anyway, for original poster, here's how the Carwow site describes them, if it's any help:

Ibis White
This non-metallic version of white isn't pure white, and has a very small hint of cream/off-white in it. On the Audi Q5, it looks good, and makes it look very Q7-like. It's a solid colour, so don't expect too much of shine from this one. If you're looking for metallic shine, you can always buy the more premium-looking Glacier metallic paint. - See more at: https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/Audi-Q5-2014-Colour-Guide#sthash.zVxl7AOQ.
Glacier White
The metallic shade of white looks slightly different from Ibis White, and could be the preferred choice if you're looking for something close to pure white. As we mentioned, Ibis White has a touch of off-white in it, while Glacier White is certainly lighter. - See more at: https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/Audi-Q5-2014-Colour-Guide#sthash.zVxl7AOQ.dpuf

no way ibis has any cream/off white in it,some audi's are a creamy white but it aint ibis

It look like the "EYES" have it won

I had an Ibis white 3.0TDI and now I have a glacier white SQ5, if I had to choose I would be happy with either as they both look great. I would probably save 600 quid as there is not that much in it in reality and in my opinion Ibis is white and not cream at all.
