This is sooooooo annoying! I can only assume this is because it's cheaper than the hard surfaces plastic they used to have. I have it on my Q7 and even with pressure washer some of the grime does not come off.

As for other niggles - i resigned myself when I got the Q that we are as I said before somewhere the guinea pigs and testers. Ultimately I ended up rejecting my first Q but the second one has been fine (bar one major problem on it..) but my dealers were fab in getting everything resolved.

If you have issues make a long long list and get it all sorted, ultimately you paid the £££s and it should be perfect. Do it all right way with dealers and they can't help being helpful...I already had a good relationship, but this was strengthened with the rejection and ultimately its lead to more cars being bought through the family í ½í±í ¼í¿¼
Hi Nemo - I have told the dealer of my concerns and the car is going in at the end of the month to sort the niggles that 6 weeks in Emden getting 'checks' should have seen.

Good man...tell them that you're considering rejection if they are unable to rectify, but would love to give them the opportunity to fix as you really like the car - helps keep them on their toes...(are you still with in the 30 days) ????????

Hi Kenzooo0 if they had said that to me I would have told them I was considering cancelling my order then walked out the door. They wouldn't be long before they were phoning you to discuss options like a courtesy car or some compensation like more discount or a couple of service freebies. They really need to get their act together. I'm surprised none of the popular car magazines have picked up on this saga we are all going through. One things for sure, when you finally get your car you will have a good idea what to check for after reading some of our delivery niggles. Cheers
Hi Justanhonestman, thank for the advise re a bit of compensation, really hope you resolve all your issue please keep us informed especially the brake pedal as that the most worrying to fix as it sounds like a design fault.

Hi Nemo thanks for the reply. Yes I am still within the 30 days so it's up to them to sort things. It's a nice car to drive but the shine has been taken off the excitement of getting a new car because of all the delivery delays and nobody being able to tell you where your car was or when you were likely to get it. Now I have these niggles- nothing major but in a car at this price point and Audi's reputation for quality, it's a bit of a let down. I'm pretty sure Audi will slowly be getting to hear about these niggles as customers return their cars to the dealers. Not the introduction to Audi I was hoping for. Let's hope they are getting their act together in Mexico and pay off the quality checkers at Emden- they certainly missed my car in the six weeks it was there lol. Cheers

Has anyone else heard anything about delays to recent orders I.e. 6-9 month wait?

I see the Configurator has now been updated to reflect new pricing and updated packs as in Tech Pack price increased and includes VC, Comfort pack has electric seats removed and Rear View Camera and HHA added etc

The latest I got yesterday was mine would be due end of July which is about 29 weeks after placing the order.

Yesterday I was told that 3 ships would leave Mexico in the next 4 weeks to ease backlog waiting there.

I asked them where this estimated time came from and they said they didn't know.

It's an absolute shambles and I am seriously considering cancelling the order

Mine left Mexico April 19th. According to Audi/the Dealer.

Except it didn't. Around May 3rd YourAudi slightly changed in the way it detailed the car - it added some details. Kind of suggests that it actually left Mexico around then. If so those ships are due in either tomorrow or next week in Emden. Of course Audi doesn't know - just platitudes repeated again and again.

In the meantime i have a loan car from the dealership but I am giving it 2 more weeks for any clarity to emerge (i.e. at Emden) before returning it and cancelling the order.

Update! So yesterday I complained to the managing director of Audi UK about the horrendous service. Today I have received a call... it's good and terrible news..

Good news is the are doing everything they can to get me a courtesy car until my new Audi arrives... bad news is the most accurate date for delivery is now mid/late August.

The car was released for shipping on 19th April but is still sat in Mexico waiting to go, in a queue.

Once in Germany they can then track it and give me an accurate arrival date.

8 months and you ordered fairly early on ????

This Mexico thing will see them lose out sales for what could be another great Q5 (once all the issues are sorted, but all new models in all manufacturers have issues) in the hotly contested SUV segment.

With that in mind I guess we will see the Q5 in Dec/Jan ????

Me too lucky. At dealers and will be getting next thursday.

Hi Kenzooo0 - Their venture into Mexico is fast becoming a joke. Audi dealers have no answers and are fobbing customers off with false hope and excuses about delivery dates. Audi customer services are no better because they too seem to have no idea what is going on not only in Mexico but anywhere between Veracruz or the dealers. Something big time is not going to plan it seems. Nothing against the Mexican workforce, they will be glad of the thousands of jobs the plant has created. But- cheap labour usually produces cheap products. And judging by the quality issues raised in this forum ( mines included) it seems that's exactly what's happening. But after cars arrive in the UK after spending weeks in Emden getting checked for the second time, faults are still arriving. This move to Mexico may well cost Audi dearly in lost sales and courtesy cars for those that threaten to cancel their orders. But once all these problems get out to the bigger car world it could put people off ordering due to unknown delivery times and awareness of problems that owners have encountered. Should have opened that bigger plant in Germany I think. And to try and fill you with hope that 3 ships are leaving Veracruz in the next 4 weeks only shows their ignorance and patronising attitude. Because if they really were interested in their job the would know that 3 ships leaving in a month is the norm. Nuff said I think.

Absolutely nail hit on the head...as soon as people start realising the delay in deliveries they'll cancel and walk across the road to Merc/BM etc etc.

I know as slipped out of the dealers lips they've had a couple of cars returned due to issues and a couple cancelled...

What I forgot to do was take a pic of the brake pedal area of showroom car ????

I still think the car is good, but just doesn't live up to expectations as too many little niggles to feel like you have a premium product.

Annoyingly out of 30 days now, if someone was to give me a choice now I would hold off on the Q5 until all issues are resolved and they can actually ship a product fit for market.

So, I was notified on 21st April my car was built and in transit. Had a look at the ship schedule and the next ship sailing was the Viking Adventure.

I've tracking this since it sailed on 28th April, and was due into Emden on the 28th May.

Just checked on Vessel Finder and it's now showing as docked in Emden.

But is my car on it? Dunno
Has the Your Audi tracked changed status? Dunno, currently down

I do wish if these companies provided facility to track something, they would at least make sure it's accurate and reliable or they might as well not bother!

Not too bothered as it's a company car and not my own money, but I would be extremely upset if it was my 40k Audi were messing around with.

There's 3 stages for 'in transit' that I discovered during my order. When they told me my car was in transit from Mexico, i thought 'great, it'll be on the next ship out of there'!

But there are 3 stages to 'in transit' (even more if you factor in the additional stages once it gets to Germany!!)

1) built and on way to port from factory
2) released to ship
3) left port

Mine took just under 8 weeks from being built to arriving at dealers. But I think I was lucky that my turnaround in Germany didn't take as long as others.
