IMPRESSIVE !!! red ring hahahaha

Hi,

Here is the info I got from B&B - I would say much better value that ABT...

B&B tuning Audi SQ5 V6 3.0BiTDI 313PS/650Nm - Stage 1K ca. 250kW/340PS/720Nm - EUR 1.498.-
Assembly performance optimization including extensive pre- and end diagnosis and motor coordination - EUR 98,-
price - EUR 1.596,-

B&B tuning Audi SQ5 V6 3.0BiTDI 313PS/650Nm - Stage 1S ca. 268kW/365PS/750Nm - EUR 1.698,-
Assembly performance optimization including extensive pre- and end diagnosis and motor coordination - EUR 98,-
price - EUR 1.796,-

B&B tuning Audi SQ5 V6 3.0BiTDI 313PS/650Nm - Stage 2 ca. 294kW/400PS/800Nm - EUR 4.950.-
Assembly performance optimization including extensive pre- and end diagnosis and motor coordination - already included
price - EUR 4.950.-

* optional:
warranty for engine, gearbox (accordance with the warranty conditions) up to 3 years/100.000km - EUR 198,-/year
performance measurement before and after - EUR 170,-

I also asked about the gearbox load of 700Nm rated and why the jump in price from Stage 1S to Stage 2;

"we already tested this high torque of up to 800Nm extensively on A6 and A7 models an there has never been any problem.

On stage 2 the injectors are optimized and as well the air intake and airflow. The electronic mapping is optimized to these mechanic changes, this is why stage 2 is on higher price than 1K and 1S."

Still think I will be waiting another year or so before looking at something like this...

Definitely, see the lab rats run crazy first with the side effects before we drug our SQ5's.

So they also upgrade the red ring on the gears ?

Not yet, waiting to pass the 25.000km and then will do it

I did it with all my previous cars and the result is always great:
faster throttle respons, faster accellaration and better economy (when driving normal of course)
But, it makes the car also more nervous, that is why I have the tuning program always programmed behind 'a button'.
Mostly cars have a sports button, in this case that would be the drive select button
they can program it so that the extra power is only available when in dynamic mode for instance.
doing so I can drive the car in standard configuration most of the time and drive it tuned when I feel up to it; also, in that way the car will not suffer too much

when it is installed I'll certainly post some feedback

Lovely. I look forward to your thoughts.

If you have never read it this article on the SQ5 TDI engine is very interesting (if you have an engineering inclination) http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CD4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.profituning.sk%2Fprofituning2%2Fuserfiles%2FTHE_NEW_3.0-L_TDI_BITURBO_ENGINE_FROM_AUDI[1].pdf&ei=gDEVUoG3EMmX0QWf34CgBw&usg=AFQjCNGS5nEgHn0iuWib1_5OTeyBDf8z1Q&sig2=n4tdxtRF49MWYOymvHltJg&bvm=bv.50952593,d.d2k

My concern would be that you can't help thinking that Audi have squeezed the absolute max out of the engine as delivered, going further potentially pushes critical temps into risky territory. One also learns that the SQ5 isn't just the 245bhp engine with two turbos but actually a radically different beast.

Very interesting read. I did wonder how different it was from the single turbo.

Not sure on your conclusion, it mentions 3 times that the design of various components lends itself to future increased power/performance...?

I concluded that they were writing it from the standpoint of the original 3.0TDI platform but you could well be right. It's quick enough for me at the minute....
