Hey all, just picked up my Plus today.

Question when in Dynamic mode am i correct to assume shifting into sport mode does nothing?

However, when in comfort mode for instance and then engaging in sport mode (via the stick) is this still different from the Dynamic setting - again assume this is just the suspension/steering that remains in comfort but the engine cranks it up a gear?

Also is there anyway of getting the auto screen on the dash (between the rev and speed counters) to show what setting you have selected, permanently?

Thanks

B

Dynamic should automatically put into S mode but you can move to D mode which goes through the gears more economically.

Dyanmiac mode i believe changes the steering feel and throttle response too so in theory there are a number of variables.

Whether you are in D or S shows on the bottom left of the DIS but you cant show the drive select setting permanently. Why would you? Stick it in Dynamic!

Suggest you are a bit gentle for the few hundred miles as Dynamic mode is very demanding on the gearbox/engine but it will be difficult........ but should you select Sports mode -by pushing gear lever to the left- it will take each gear upto the Redzone before changing up automatically so performance is at its peak but once again gently does it.

Surely pushing gear selector to left puts it into manual (regardless of mode selected)?

Gear lever to the left is manual mode. Holding onto gear until the red line will not give "peak" performance. Peak power is below max revs;
340PS at 4100-4300 on the SQ5 Plus.
Gear lever down is sport mode which changes mechatronic settings (i.e. gear up and down) to give optimum performance.

All I am saying is that you will get more MPH per gear when you are in manual its the same with a manual car over an automatic and therefore you will probably get a slightly quicker 0-60 time as is normally the case with manuals vs automatics. Try it and see for yourself.

I don't understand your logic. I would suggest MPH is a direct function of engine RPM and the gear ratio. Manual v Auto would make no difference.

There is no manual option for the SQ5, but where there is a direct equivalent, I think you will find Audi (and other manufacturer's) quoted 0-62mph times are the same and in most cases better for Auto versus Manual.

One would have to be a very skilled driver to match the precise / effortless changes afforded by any of the latest Audi auto gearboxes.

Anyway, some would argue that "real drivers" prefer manual. I don't wish to argue, as this is not relevant to OPs post.
