Breaking (pun intended) News:

An 18-year-old man has been charged with breaking into an Aberdeenshire home and stealing a £25,000 car from outside the property.
The alleged theft took place at an address in Newmachar on the morning of Monday, January 7.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that an 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a theft by housebreaking and a theft of a car in Aberdeenshire."
The man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, January 11.
Earlier this week, the theft of a £25,000 Audi RS4 in the north-east town provoked an angry response from the vehicle's owner, Lesley Ross.
She went on to Facebook to vent her anger, adding: "Hope they wrap the car round a lamppost and maim themselves."
Ms Ross's car was stolen on Monday morning in Newmachar, but after she and her partner, Ricky Strachan, reported the theft to Grampian Police she was later warned for using "offensive" language on the social networking site.

Heard last night and again this morning that one of the wee ned fks was caught in the BOD area last night eyeing up someones car resulting in a tanking from the car owner and his neighbours taking it in turns. not sure if its genuine but would like to think it was

I was just reading through this article in the Daily Mail regarding the recent Audi RS4 theft and how the police targeted the owner.

FYI: Jordan Fowlie (18), of Northsea Court, Aberdeen, was arrested and charged with 3 offences - theft, stealing the RS4 (TWOC) and stealing petrol, all whilst he was out on bail for a.n.other offences! He appeared in court 11th Jan and released on bail again, freed to comit yet more crimes.

That is a very good idea. I shall send a message to Audi UK and ask them to consider distributing similar advice via their dealer network.

Romach sent the link to Ediburgh Audi and I send a message to Audi UK. They thanked me for my suggestion. I have not verified whether Audi UK distributed the info throughout their dealer network or what each dealer chose to do with that information. In addition, I have also posted details on a.n.other web forums and social networking sites.

I have done what I felt appropriate as a good citizen to help make a.n.other Audi owner's aware of the problem.

KEEP YOUR AUDI SAFE.....

With the recent thefts of Premium Cars in and around Aberdeen we would like to offer some simple tips to keep your car safe.
The following Models have an emergency key in the glove box on the left hand side: New Model A4 - A5 and Q5. REMOVE THE EMERGENCY KEY AND THE SLEEVE from the glove box and store safely out with the car.
For all other Audi Models REFER TO YOUR OWNERS HANDBOOK. ENSURE that you remove any spare keys/emergency keys from your car whenever and wherever you park be it for 1 hour or overnight.
We have been informed that in a vast number of these thefts, the keys for the cars have been taken from the owners house whilst they have physically been present. To this end, KEEP YOUR KEYS OUT OF VIEW.
These thieves are not only stealing Audi Models, BMW and various other Marques have been targeted.
Be vigilant - check you do not have any keys in your car and if you drive the above mentioned models - REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE GLOVEBOX.
