I'm sorry if this has already been posted, searched the site but been unable to find anything.

My rear wiper appears to have a mind of it's own at the moment. It keeps starting on its own, mostly when I start the car, and stopping at any point it feels like on the rear windscreen sometimes the correct position but more often than not it is mid wipe. It is doing this without me using the wiper or screen wash. I always leave my front wipers in auto position but even if i turn them off it doesn't seem to have an affect.

Has anyone else experienced this or heard of this happening? Does anyone know if its some sort of electrical fault, cross wiring or to do with the motor?

Seeing as I am waiting for Audi get themselves sorted with regards to resolving the emissions issue I am loathed to take this to a dealer to look at, that and the ridiculous costs they charge so I am hoping that it is something I can fix.

Any help or advice from fellow Q5'ers would be greatly appreciated.

The wiper stalk is pulled back and not forward? Just thought to get the basics checked first as you didnt mention

Happened to me too last week. Wiper froze initially with the cold weather. When it started again it kept stopping in random positions. Swiping it once would do multiple wipes. Its calmed down but it still pauses breifly during use at a random point before completing the wipe

I think the frost has damaged the mechanism somehow.
