I'm biased, but go for the 3 litre V6. A great all round SUV, more than sufficient in power and a bit more ground clearance than the SQ5!

I found the 3.0 I had for a month had very heavy steering compared to the 2.0. The manager reckoned it was down to the heavier engine.

Anyone know if this has been fixed in the later models with the updated steering software? It would certainly put me off the 3.0 if it was standard.

In fact I find the steering somewhat lighter than I'd expected (or wanted). Especially in comparison to other SUV's I have owned (and own).

Go for the SQ or go 20TDi, 3.0 is kinda in the middle of nowhere.

That's exactly where I live "in the middle of nowhere", so it suits me fine...

Fair comment, relating to your own requirements, for you performance is obviously a very important critera.
But in the overall Q5 market, there will plenty who want a mile muncher, for long trips etc, so a question between standard 2.0l or 3.0l is very relevant, and I'm sure there's a large market who just don't need that extra-extra performance, and nice exhaust sound.
I just think it's putting people off, for no real good reason, to say 2.0l or SQ5 and anything in between is not worth considering.
For pricing, which is uppermost in many peoples mind, I'm guessing the difference between an S-line plus 2.0l and 3.0l is closer to the difference between 3.0l S-line plus and SQ5 of exact same spec., so it's obviously a well worth consideration for most.

Quite agree. I made a conscious decision with my purchase; considered the SQ5 but determined the 3 litre suited me best .... and I didn't even have to fork out extra for my preferred colour. Next time round (if the Q5 and SQ5 are still available), I'd maybe make the same choice again.... It's certainly not 2nd best to me and to others on this forum.
