Nearly bought a Q5 in 2011, but as a long suffering LR driver bought the RR Evoque instead. My mistake! Corrected this mistake today by provisionally ordering my Audi Q5 Sline plus with many options. Got to say that the base price escalated considerably with those options that I took for granted with LR (reverse camera, powerfold mirrors etc). But you get what you pay for, so looking forward to September delivery.

Hi and welcome. Ive seen other comments on here regarding bailing out of the Evoque! The Audi dealers are crap but the cars are fab, I've just returned to the fold having had a Q7 4 years ago and really enjoying it.

I bailed on my Evoque too. I moved from an A5 to the RR (needed room for baby) and it just never felt right. While there were some options I liked I'm very happy I got back to an Audi with the Q5. The thing I miss the most from the evoque is the steering wheel and seat adjusting to enter and exit the vehicle. Not sure the Audi does that. Have the premium plus s-line.

I have just sold my RR Sport to go back to an Audi Q5 (SQ5 this time). The only thing I think I will sorely miss is the heated steering wheel... why don't Audi offer this as an option when you can get it on the A6, etc?

What a good choice, i nearly bought an Evoque a couple of years ago, went to all the lauch parties in birmingham then the half day test drive in Manchester then pulled out my order before they started building them due to thoughts on quality and power, ive been an Audi man for years and will probably never leave you wont regreat the change all the best Merlin

Thanks folks for the replies, makes me more confident that I'm making the right choice. I also considered the SQ5, but wanted to retain a bit more ground clearance in terms of approach and departure angles. Quick question though: I've specified Drive select, but is it worth having? Thanks again.

Welcome - yup been there too - had a SD4 Prestige Evoque for 8 months until LR took it back - skin deep beauty, crap quality - the only thing I miss is the 825w Meridian hifi whichwas very good. I go back and take a look at the BabyRR forum from time to time, I don't think the quality issues are being resolved either.

Drive select - yes absolutely worth having even if you don't opt for the adaptive dampers or dynamic steering - it's the only way of accessing the Efficiency program which is great for fuel economy. Have you spec'd an interior light pack and mobile coonect high?

Thanks Sq5john. I've spec'd the interior light pack, but not the mobile connect high ... I'll look into that. By the way it's also an Evoque Prestige that I'm getting rid of. I've got rid of the rattles over the past 18mths, but it just has one issue after another.

Heated seats and folding mirrors would be my basic recommendations for an S Line plus, other stuff that should be standard would be storage pack and rear bench seat which gives you the rear cupholders.
I also found the high beam assist to work really well and had hill hold assist, which is very useful on our current manual 2.0TDI

Thanks jonathanbr. Never thought about the rear bench seat ... but rear cupholders are an essential, so will add tomorrow to spec. Good luck in collecting your new SQ5.

Is the internal light pack really that good as most of you seem to say about this? I have not added this to my spec so was wondering if to or not? Also I am guessing the Hill hold assist is worth having seeing as I will be ordering the 2.0TDI manual? Is it defo having?

Yes, absolute must have - and should be std spec on all Q5s, not just the SQ. :

"QQ1 Interior light package. Includes front footwell lighting, active door reflectors, illuminated vanity mirrors, rear reading
lights, entrance lights and illuminated glove compartment, vents and internal door controls"

An interior light pack makes any Audi a special place to be at night. You will bitterly regret not ordering it and it's impossibly expensive to retrofit afterwards.

Hill hold is also worth having - gets slightly interesting with Stop/Start as well. I've found that if one coasts to a halt with gentle brake pedal pressure then the green Hill hold light comes on and the engine keeps running. Braking harder - more pedal pressure when coming to a halt triggers stop/start as well,

Hi John yes a good point with the interior light pack, love it it really does finish off the interior at night, as for HHA as you say its well worth having for the cost but is interesting at some points !!

I'd go with the HHA over the interior light pack - our new SQ5 has both but our old S-Line just had HHA, we still had rear lights and the only thing it didn't have that was obvious was lights for the interior vanity mirrors. The HHA on our new car is also much better as it seems to switch on automatically every time we start the car, in the old one you had to engage it every time you started.

Really interesting discussion. I'm glad I've gone for both options. I agree, should be standard.

I'm still not clear if selecting QQ1 (Interior light pack) on the 2014 build has LED lights. My order shows 'QQ1 LED Interior light package' but others have reported that their interior lights are not LED. Any comments?
