Hi,

Is it possible to request just the TDI badge to be removed when ordering a new SQ5? Or do you have to do yourself?

Think I'm going to do mine. Went passed a guy who turned to look, (yes had loud exhaust noise on, sad lad) and came over and said that's not a diesel is it what a let down, thought it was something better than diesel.

He then got in his Astra left. A**e!

I wasn't embarrassed I just thought he was American without the accent or just a total pk.

Americans: They have misconceptions regarding diesels, one of them being that diesel is only for large trucks, commercial vehicles and mass motor cars and not luxury vehicles.

My orders in for my R8d.

I think it makes the back of the car look much cleaner without the TDI, only my opinion though.

Its either all badged or all de-badged.

Your dealer will remove the TDI for you at PDI I'm sure, mine was happy to.

Nope, no effect on the paintwork. I asked the dealer to remove all of the badges except the Q5 badge on the back. Whe I went to pick the car up, they'd left the quattro badge on the back, so I asked them to take that off as well. Did it in 10 minutes in valeting while we completed the paperwork.

Similar situation - I'd ordered engine tech deletion but forgot there was also a new 'Quattro' badge on my new Q5, unlike the one I had before. So on the tailgate (rhs) I've just got the Quattro badge on it's own looking lost. I've got my car booked in for a new car detail and I've asked the detailer to remove it.

Get the hair dryer out and you can easily remove any badge yourself. A bit of tar remover will then remove any sticky gunge left once the badge goes.

If anyone's look to de-badge, I'd happily take any surplus "T's" off you.
Think it might have been our old contributor friend Jose that changed the wing badges to V6 TT ?
Naff in some eyes but I rather liked it!

All those that are embarrassed about having a diesel should tend to get some therapy.

To be fair, Americans don't need diesel quite as much as we do, along with the rest of North America, at least not yet. The benefits of running a 'dirty, noisy' diesel used to be MPG only, now we know it can also offer power and driveability benefits, many drivers in the US, Canada Oz etc. wish they were getting diesel SQ5's and the like, instead of their 'gas' versions.
All that being said, I still fancy a big capacity PETROL in the next few years, before it's too late.
