This cannot be complicated, there is only one moving brake pedal, connected to brake master cylinder.......has anybody actually looked under the dashboard to see what is happening and "feeling" by hand where the clunk comes from.

Audi have been trying to solve this for 10 months.
Either you are wrong and it is complicated or Audi are incompetent or simply don't care. I suspect the latter but either way hardly the sign of a quality or caring car manufacture.

If I had the clunk I would investigate the sound myself.
Several competent people on here have but are restricted as to how far they can go due to the warranty.

I have also just sent a link to this forum to WhatCar? and Auto Express to see if they would be interested in taking it up.

Had this reply within an hour from Auto Express. Please do send him an email to try and get some momentum on this.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for your email, which Sean forwarded to me, and sorry to hear of what sounds like a frustrating fault.

I'm fairly tied up for most of next week, but should be free to talk on Friday. Do you have any spare time then? What's the best number to reach you on?

Kind regards,

Good stuff. Good to see they're interesting in hearing about the issue. Everyone else who has this issue with the brake needs to email him so they can see it's a bigger issue.

Other possible places to contact could be CarBuyer, Carwow, Honest John.

I just checked twitter and @AudiUk are very responsive. They obviously don't like any media attention to any issues. Might be worth bombarding them there as well.

Still waiting for mine to go in on the 12th Feb, now the noise is there almost every push of the pedal. also now a part or the OSR plastic trim has started to come away from the bodywork. Only 2500 miles on the clock and hand washed only all I can say is..... Made In Mexico

Maybe Audi no longer care so much about quality and its all about price and volume, after all with the Chinese market for the Audi range growing year upon year how else could they satisfy the demand. This seems by far the worst made Audi I've owned.
On a more positive note my wife owns a 67 plate Q2 and in the terms of build quality seems miles ahead of the Q5 (wonder where the Q2 is made).
anyhow hope your all well and we get a satisfactory outcome soon

Sorry to hear that. I got my Q5 last year start of May. Lots of teething issues to begin with but have learned to live with them. Totally agree the build quality and materials was below expectation (came from a Q3 and A3 much better) No surprise the Q2 is made in Germany.

Got to agree on the above comments. I ordered my car Nov 16, with no cars available to view at the dealers. I really enjoy driving my car and think the petrol engine and transmission are so smooth. But the quality of the materials used and fitment are way below what I expected after viewing other cars in the dealers. Far too much use of plastic for this price point along with a £5000 increase in the starting price for all models over the Mk1 make me wonder if I made the right decision to buy blind. Every time I wash the car I cringe at the feeling of fragility of the pladtic slats which make up the lower half of the front grille. The way the rear bumper panel can be pushed around where it meets the upper body above the rubber stopper when the boot is open. Another shocker was underneath the dash above where the passengers feet would sit. Instead of blanking off this area with a plastic panel, they have used a sheet of very thin polystyrene, thinner than an average coffee cup which will split if the passenger lifts their feet too high. I could go on, but we’ve all found something that doesn’t represent the money we are paying fot this car. For me it’s a nice car, but doesn’t warrant the luxury tag that Audi promotes. Was in a mid range saloon from Infiniti which is Nissans so called luxury brand last week. The car was around £37000 list price and was fitted out in full leather with soft door handles. Was put together well with no creaks or rattles and had plenty kit fitted. Ok I’m comparing a car to an SUV, but the materials used and the fit and finish was up there with more expensive offerings. And the seat runners had caps on them, unlike Audis exposed metal runners which you notice right away when opening the door. Too late now, but I wished I had waited till a car was in the dealers. Lesson learned.

Just had a call from Hugo at AutoExpress he will be contacting Audi and has my car details. I am sure if any other forum members want to do the same he would be interested to hear. My car is coming up to 2 months old, others with longer term problems I am sure would add more weight. He will need your permission to use your details with Audi.

Interestingly he said he had experienced the problem himself but assumed it was the metal brake pedal on the S-line but having seen the videos realises it's something different. Lets hope Audi take the interest from AutoExpress more seriously than they do us owners and we get a resolution soon.

AutoExpress will not be taking it forward. They were not impressed that I had encouraged other owners to make contact or that I had posted the email here. They wanted a one-on-one relationship which I had agreed to but assumed they would be interested in hearing from other owners.

Oh well - back to square one.
