Hey all, between these 2 cars, A5 sportback 3.0TDi with sports diff and Q5 2.0TDi.

Both same spec, s-line with dynamic dampers.

Car will be used for family, work and transporting bikes at the weekend.

Anyone have or driven either? Any comments on the comfort of either? Like the A5 but concerns about it's ability to handle the pot holed roads!

Traded in my 3L A6 Le Mans for 2L Q5. Living in Scotland and with a couple of very active kids makes more sense. The A6 was great in the summer but too low whenever snow was on the ground. Was really worried about drop in engine size but can honestly say I don't even think about it. The Q5 is a more 'complete' vehicle for my needs I would say.

yes I guess that is where I'm trying to get too! Also live in Scotland (Aberdeen) and head to the hills every weekend. A5 possibly better if hurried on good quality B roads but I guess the Q5 will feel more confident. The limiting factor on roads now tends to be how well a car can handle unexpected potholes and missing chunks of tarmac!

A5 SB only seats 2 in the rear which can be a problem sometimes for me. I thought it would be a good family car, it's not really but it is very nice looking and I do love it when I'm in it myself. The Q5 is the perfect family car imo.
