Just received the following from U.K. dealer.

" As to the availability of the 2.0TDI S-Tronic, as far as I am aware Audi have no current plans to introduce this model but I will make further enquires to confirm that. "

Thank you for your email dated 2nd October 2008 regarding the Audi Q5
Unfortunately there are no plans as yet for there to be an S Tronic gear box available on the Audi Q5 2.0TDi.

Economics I would think, new model high demand limited options to simplify production schedules, as sales and interest drops bring in the variants and options to keep interest and sales up.

We will get 3.2 petrol V6 next year and base spec.cars below the SE models, my dealer thinks there will be a 2.7 V6 diesel and a 140bhp 2.0 Tdi model towards the end of the year.

2.0ltr TDI with S-Tronic - from build date 02/2009
Cost - ?2200 (?1767) more than the 6 speed manual.

Thanks Tractorboy, I will tell my dealer and keep pestering him, he is going to the U.K. dealer launch 16/17 November in Spain and promised to question tech. boys there for info.

I have managed to find out the there will be an S-Tronic gearbox released for the Diesel in February 2009. Audi were kind enough to bring the only Audi Q5 in the UK up for us to have a look at, and the Q5 specialist from head office was here to answer all our questions. I remembered your question and just wanted to confirm the information I had as there was nothing on our systems showing there would be an S-Tronic gearbox available. He confirmed that it would be available on all engines.

Just ordered 2.0 Tdi S-line S-tronic, now have to wait as quoted week 19 build with standard alloys, apparently there is a shortage of wheels at the factory, if you want 20" multispoke it's week 11 or 20" 7 twin spoke it is week 14. Ths could change if supplies improve, come on Audi sort it !!

Had week 11 build confirmed so should be here for mid April with a bit of luck, seems they have sorted the wheel issue.
