For information this is the 20" wheel in the winter wheel kit, exactly the same as in the German brochure... sadly not the same as on the Audi.com web site...

If you can stomach the design.....

I'm thinking about this option for the SQ5 - what do you think:
20" after-market alloys at ÂŁ699.00
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-RS4-B8-RSV-GUNMETAL-POLISHED-STYLE-ALLOY-WHEELS-AUDI-A5-RS5-S5-A6-A8-5X112-/221262539166?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&fits=Car+Make%3AAudi%7CModel%3AQ5&hash=item338446699e

and a set of Dunlop D3 winter tyres from Mytyres.com at ÂŁ257.00 each. Total cost ÂŁ1727.00 plus getting the local garage to fit the tyres - about another ÂŁ50.
The only thing stopping me is should I pay the ÂŁ300 extra and have the genuine Audi winter wheel package. I have also heard (but not sure if it is true) that if you use aftermarket alloys your insurance company will class that as a modification to the car. You always get asked has the car been modified when you renew your insurance and you would need to declare this otherwise it's an easy get out for them if you need to claim.

The insurance thing is true, and as they are clearly not stock Q5 wheels you might get pulled up on it if they wanted to be difficult should the worst happen - equally declaring such a simple mod on a Q5 will probably only put your premium up by a few quid a year.
Don't forget the proper winter wheels get a tougher coating/finish to protect them from salt/grit.

If you are wanting to go pro about it you really want to go for the 19" winter wheels if you can source them (are available from Audi Germany at least, may be able to get a UK dealer to order them) as they are narrower and so better for snow etc. Tyres are also probably cheaper for them...

It's swings and roundabouts though - if you are not going to get a lot of snow and just want a bit of extra grip/safety in the winter then 20's will be fine - and of course 90% of people use 'normal' wheels all year round and don't worry about salt corrosion so that one is up for debate as to whether it is worth it as well! Plus those 20's would look cool!

The 19" will be coming... soon... for around ÂŁ2600 inc VAT I'm told.... that's what I am now waiting for...

Yep I would prefer 19's as I had the same 235mm width tyre on a 17" rim on my last Q5 and they were excellent so really I don't really want to compromise on the grip in the snow. But the 19" option is getting a bit expensive, why is it more than the 20's

Stick to original Audi. Quality guaranteed.

Well my winter wheels and tyres arrived...

And will hopefully make the car look like this... I'm in two minds on the look, but sod it, the wife preferred the ti wheel look so we're going with it.

I think they will look great. I am not a fan of the standard sq5 wheel, its just a bit ordinary, but painting them dark grey will make them look much more the part. I think I might be doing the same. Is this Audi winter wheel package? My dealer told me it wasn't available to order until October.

Thanks. I hope you're right on the colour!

Sadly this isn't the official winter package. Mark has posted pics of that in this thread somewhere and it's not the greatest wheel design but offers by far the best value.
This is the oem 20" wheel which would have cost the earth were it not for the fact the dealer did a deal out of goodwill.
