Why iPod classic not usable with MMI 2021

We have had and used iPod Classics for years
With Q5 PHEV 2021, they are not compatible.
Why? A new Pioneer radio on another car uses iPods classic without problem.
iPod Touch does work

This is a classic problem with supporting old technology with new technology. The iPod classic was last sold as new towards the end of 2014 and is now not supported by Apple. You will find that there will be technology somewhere which will support the Classic but it will not be on a new Audi. As the Classic is not supported by Apple, Audi will not help you with your problem as thee Classic is now not mainstream. There are two options available, try and find an item of third party hardware to bridge between the Audi and Classic or change your Classic for something else, maybe your smartphone.
Time to upgrade and get Spotify, Google Music or Apple Music etc on your smartphone and Bluetooth connect etc to your car.

This might help but you can convert your iPod/iTunes music to Android using Wondershare TunesGo.

There is a movement to refurb iPod classics with, among other, Bluetooth.

The classics deliver standard audio/playlists and can connect to USB and USB mini without problems. I ask for only the playing of the playlists. I can set them up on the classics. I think this is a demand that we spend more. I use them in my new home stereo, only hooked up via a min to RCA plugs. The newest one does it too, but what else?
SO is there not a real reason for the lack of support for iPod classic? I inly ask that it play the list I provide. It's audio signal, not computational work.
OR
Is there a deal between Audi and Apple, encouraging more money spent, and a benefit for Audi?
IPOD=old. You cannot support legacy products for ever. Betamax and VHS?
But there is no functional change in the iPod classic vs iPod touch when it comes to playback.
It does not make sense except it requires a new purchase and, thus, probably a payback to Audi.
Beta Max and VHS were real screwups with different format, different physical size of the cases. iPod classic uses the same connector (USB) to get to the MMI.
Using older and newer sized USB has no difference in playback outcome.
Yeah, use a USD stick, screw the moneymakers
This is the way it is. Apple products contain certain unique functionality which is sometimes supported. You won't get any support from Apple so I suggest contacting Audi customer services but I feel that because iPod usage is very low then they won't be able to help. The solution which does work is to transfer everything to your phone then blue-tooth link it to the MMI. As regards Betamax and VHS, they were never screwups for the manufacturers who made vast amounts of money. Betamax was better quality as it was based on a studio standard for people who wanted to purchase a recorder and VHS went through the rental companies. Your payback to Audi supposition has a number of fundamental flaws.
Not an answer.
logically MMI should simply let one play the lists as if it became a SD card and a player
