I wanted a 4wd to replace our Honda - particularly for ski hols and summer hols. The Honda did everything perfectly well for 6 years, but was sooo dull to drive. I have a 2 seater for when I want a fun drive with the top down, but I found that I also want to enjoy driving the wagon, and as I don't need quite so much space now my kids both driving, I decided to think about changing. I narrowed potential candidates down to a XC60 (not fast enough and the wife didn't like), LR Disco sport (sunroof doesn't open - frustrated he hell out of my in the Honda for 6 years!), Alpina X3 (couldn't find one), Macan GTS (lovely, but just too expensive when specced up - c.60k) and SQ5 (Even though I was considering a new one, a nearly new one came up that looked too good a opportunity to miss, in a better spec than I would have chosen, and I would not have to wait until next March).
