This I know will make me very unpopular but after the long wait for the Q5 I have seen in the last 7 days the vehicle start to fall apart in front of my eyes. Instead of listing the faults I have decided to put here a copy of the email I have sent this morning to both Tetbury Audi and Jeremy Hicks.
My concen is that Audi have accelerated the production and as such quality is the loser.
I hope that this is not the case and all is well with all members who have eagerly awaited delivery of their Q5 and that ours is a rouge case.
Sirs
After 1 weeks ownership of the Q5 purchased from you I must say that this must be the worst example of quality build that I have encountered. After waiting 6 months for delivery I always thought that at least I would have a quality produced vehicle, this is far from the truth.
Within 2 days the trim started on its own to fall off. As already reported the offside rear door aluminium trim has come away from the door panel and the centre console has departed from the dash board. We have a paint chip inside the nearside doors.
The keyless entry works but only on opening. It takes several attempts to lock the car sometimes it is easier to use the key fob.
The parking assist to the front of the vehicle is intermittent. So much so that yesterday it failed completely and if we had been trusting it we would have hit a wall.
The main beam assist is not working and there are a number of Northamptonshire motorist with now light blindness.
Whilst in cruise the gearbox feels as if it is struggling to decide if it is in the wrong gear or not. This gives the feeling that you are driving over lumps in the road. Now I know the M1 is not the smoothest of roads but the part I was on was not going to give the ride we experienced.
We have had the vehicle now just 8 days and cannot believe the problems it is now developing. We are so pleased we paid for the 4 year warranty as on this record we are really going to need this. The only problem is that although we paid for the warranty it is not showing in the service book. Despite informing you of this 7 days ago you still have not confirmed that this is in place.
You have already arranged to fix the first 3 items and have offered to collect the car. My concerns are that the car will be driven by someone unknown to us a long distance and worry that they will not respect the vehicle. I can bring this down myself but this will add some 520 miles to the vehicle for problems which are not of my making and the costs incurred should not be there if the vehicle had been correctly built and PDI?d .
To conclude I think I would have been in the same position if I had purchased a model such as a Kia. The only difference would have been a large amount of money left in the bank. Alternativly I could again have gone with BMW or Mercedes and would have been driving with a smile on face. No I choose Audi, was this the wrong decision?
Kind regards
