Can anybody tell me if the Audi dealers in the UK do VAGcom updates.... (i'm from the Netherlands and ordered my Q5 in the UK). Some dealers in the Netherlands wil activate these options by delivery of your car... some don't because they don't know how it works....

Enabling Gauge Test/Needle Sweep
This will sweep the gauge needles through their full range automatically when you start the engine.

Got a letter back from Audi Customer Services today informing me it was not possible to programme the tail lights to be on automatically with front DRL and the only way was to switch on the side and tail lights along with the front LED running lights, but as you know when you switch on the side/tail lights this automatically dims the LED running lights so defeats the purpose.

I almost know for sure it will work out, a lot of Audi owners in the Netherlands custumized their taillights with the front LED running lights. But i only can speak for audi A3, A4, A5 and A6 owners... because i don't know Q5 owners.
Think my Q5 will arrive in April 2010, will let you know

I don't think my local Audi dealer would be interested any way no matter what additional information I gave them as there email to me indicated they would not carry out any changes from the standard Q5 set up.

You need to make sure you get the right cable and need a Hex Can interface - I do not think this one is - I have purchased two cheap Chinese rip offs, one did not turn up and the other one did not write any changes to the car so you could only read the codes. The rip off cables do not work with the latest VCDS software either and you have to use one of the previous versions until they manage to crack the code in the chip that is in the cable.

If you search on Digital Kaos forum then there is a lot of information on VCDS and you may be able to find where to buy a decent rip off cable. I think I will save my money and buy a real VCDS cable as chancing ?50 each time (when you include the p&p) will soon add up when they do not work.

If anyone has found somewhere that sells cables that work then let us know?

Have found a local Audi workshop that will have a look to see if they can reset my system to have the tail lights on along with the LED daytime running lights keeping them on the bright setting

Great news Bill, i will have some changes too this friday. Collected my car 26-02-2010 and i love it!

For sure i will do the Video in Motion unlock and backlights with the DRL.... i will make some pictures for you (hope i can put the front and backlights in one photo;-))

The best of luck with your new Q5 thats the colour i was going for but changed my mind at the last minute and went for Ice silver, thought it wouldn't show the dirt the same

I love your Pan roof and i use mine all the time now that the sun has turned up hear in Scotland, be very interested to see what mods you get done

I went today

and i'm happy, we did some nice stuff:

-Enabling Gauge Test/Needle Sweep
-Daylights for backlights
-Oil temperature/Lap Timer
-Video in Motion unlock (only above 255km it will lock;-)
-Alarmbeep (you' ll hear a beep by locking your car, you can choose also for 2 beeps by unlock but 1 beep is enough)
-Right mirror will go down to the curbs? when driving backwards, i've got camera/beeps and the mirror for the curbs. Hope that's enough (for my wife) for not damaging the wheels;-)

There is a lot more possible but i did go for de Video unlock and DRL with taillights... oil temperature is nice to have, laptimer i will never use in this car;-) but comes with the oil temp. Alarmbeep is nice to know for sure you locked the car...

No luck the mechanic said the access codes i gave him were not correct and unless he got more information in how to access the relevant menus thats it for now, i gave him a copy of what you had carried out but he suggested that your Q5 might be set up different from the UK spec, I cant see that being the case. I am disappointed, thought it would be a simple job for them to carry out but back to square one.
