For those of us who would like to have the Q5 manual on their computer, I thought I would publish the steps below:

With your Q5, you should have received a Disk which is loaded via the MMI to allow the manual to be viewed on the MMI screen. The same manual can be loaded onto a computer. As the documentation is held in HTML format, the screens are exactly the same as displayed on the MMI system.

0. Place the disk you received with your Q5 into your CD/DVD drive.

1. Locate the ISO file "boardbook.iso" in the folder "X:boardbookdata0default" where X is the drive letter for your CD/DVD reader.

2. Burn the ISO image to a CD.

If your version of Windows does not support burning of an ISO image to disk or if you do not have 3rd party software such as Nero, you can download the free Microsoft utility CDBURN from the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

3. Copy all the files from the CD you made in step 2 to a folder on your computer.

4. Find the file named "inhalt.htm" in the folder created in Step 3. Create a shortcut of this file and place it on the desktop.

5. Double click the desktop icon you created in step 4.

You should now be viewing the manual online.

Happy reading.

Hooplescat,

I have created a test folder with just the English documentation files in (Only 30mb instead of over 600mb!!) These have been emailed along with instructions on how to use the files.

Please let me know if you do not receive the email, if there is a problem or if ll works well. I can then send the same file to ElJadius.

Many thanks

PS. As I stated in my email it is not a good idea to put email addresses on forums. Members can always pm you. You should edit your post and remove your email details.

Squirrel,

ISO is an industry standard. Instead of having files you have one file which is a complete image of the disk to be created.

Mac OS supports burning ISO files to a CD.

Use the Mac disk utility to burn the disk, (Applications ? Utilities ? Disk Utility).

Someone from forums.audiworld.com has uploaded the MMI-manual (not sure how Audi feels about copyright issues, hence no direct link. Just copy and paste the URL in your browser):

Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/342258803/en_GB.zip
With this download there's no need to burn any CD, just extract the zip to a directory and start browsing

Kaine,

Is it possible to load the manual on to the forum, so that members can download it when ever they want.

Seems it maybe something that could be in demand for these long delivery time cars, and ever eager members

Not sure if it is possible or even desirable, as I know not of the wonders of the world of the Web Master.

Rgds
Squirrel.
