UK Discounts

Hi Everyone,

I'm about ready to pull the trigger and order a Q5. What kind of discount should I be aiming for (and what have other people managed to get) from UK Audi dealers? My spec is costing around ?41k to ?45k (depending on whether I go for the 3.0TDI in the end).

Thanks a lot!

I ordered mine in the second week of January 2010 .. tried my local dealer but was told July delivery and 3% discount with very poor trade in on my BMW. I then went home and placed order online with drivethedeal.com with 10% discount. drive the deal phoned back next day to say if I was still interested their nominated dealer would be in touch with probable June delivery. That afternoon their nominated Audi dealer called to go thorough the long list of options I wanted and confirmed 10% off and then gave me the good news that I could have it ready by end of March ! All monies were paid direct to the Audi dealer so no risk of money being paid to the broker.

Wow, there seems to be absolutely no downside then? Anyone else got experience of drivethedeal?

Yes. Exactly as above (two previous cars). They are one of the oldest and best brokers - but almost all brokers emulate their model these days. There is no downside.

Couple others that I would recommend-

broadspeed
bettercardeal
ukcarbroker

You only need ask two questions

1) Will I deal directly with the dealer once you've taken my deposit
2) Will I be the first registered keeper of the vehicle

Just called drivethedeal.com, they say they're unable to source Audi Q5s from any dealers at the moment. This certainly sounds an unlikely situation?

Wouldnt be so sure, they are sold out everywhere!i spoke to the audi garage near us and they are now quoting march 11 for delivery. The Q5 is now audis 2nd biggest selling model, the a4 being first.

Its true - they may offer 10% but they cant get any cars. Was the same in Feb when i ordered mine, all good until i said go and they told me they couldnt actually order any!!!

I went to carselect from lloyds and got 5% discount, not as good but they could actually get me one!
Just to add some info for you on drivethedeal. I ordered mine through them at a 9 or 10% discount (off everything including extras), can't remember which one it was, and they said Aug / Sep delivery. It wasn't one of their allocated slots but just went in to the queue. Just heard that the build week is 37 currently. Although the waiting list is growing in general the build weeks have been coming forward as opposed to back so hopefully will receive it in Oct.

Drivethedeal were fine and gave me the discount without having to negotiate etc. Went to 3 or 4 London dealers and they were all useless! None of them seemed interested in taking my ?40k. Anyway its a long wait but given the second hand market (was at the time of order) going through at about 95% of list price I didn't see any point in paying more for a second hand car not to my spec than waiting for a new car to my spec. I would imagine the second hand market will get more liquid over time and bythe time mine comes prices and availability will be lower.

PS I ended up ordering from Parklands Audi in Gloucester (directed to them by drivethedeal).

Does anyone have any recommendations of dealers around the country who might be offering discounts on Q5s at the moment? I tried dealers around the M25 area and South, they all say they're giving no discounts. Drivethedeal.com aren't able to source Q5s at the moment, and broadspeed.com look & sound really dodgy (promising a car in 12 weeks!).

Anyone bought a Q5 in the last month?
Ordered one on the 30th April at Milton Keynes Audi. I struggled to get a 1% discount as I was told there were no discounts on the Q5. Buy any other car in the range and no problem.....

By all accounts the Q5 and the A1 are hot at the moment and they don't seem to be able to meet consumer demand.

Try way oop north and see if the ripple has reached that far yet.
I'd like to thank everyone that replied to this thread. After calling 9 or 10 dealers, I managed to find one that could offer me about a 5% discount (it really seems anyone around the M25 and south are offering no discounts at all) and a November delivery. If you order before Monday, they protect you from the 2% price increase coming on the Q5. I wasn't too impressed with a number of the brokers I spoke to and several didn't even bother to call me back.

I've put my deposit down and unfortunately I've just got to wait now!

If you order before monday you will save yourself the 2% audi rise and the expected 2.5% in vat expected before end of year.

The dealer mentioned ordering before Monday would get the MY2010 prices, but he said there was no VAT price rise protection...

I ordered in feb and have been told that if there is a vat increase i will be protected.
I'd not even considered a VAT increase, however i do have a signed agreement here with comfirmed price on it so i shant be paying a penny more!
I had the VAT problem with my TT TDi, ordered in August 2009 when VAT was 15% and picked the car up in Jan 2010 when VAT went up to 17.5%. the dealers view was that they have to charge VAT at the current rate!

Luckily for me, Audi had set aside funds to offset the VAT increase for the dealers.

I think VAT will go up to 20% as from 1st January 2011,any thoughts?
