you would hope that the prep is all the wiring, and that the only cost you would have will be for the towing hook and maybe the valance so hopefully you wont have to pay so much.hopefully!!

I'm going to ring the dealer tomorrow and ask about the suspension.I really like the firm ride and was one of the reasons i went to the s-line.Just hope that if I want the sports setup i dont have to wait for longer

One of the things that towbar prep means is the small red plug wrapped in foam you can see in the lower left corner of the picture below.

What it doesn't mean is the small box of electronics you can see in the center of the picture with the three sets of plug receptors. This box is the trailer module that you need to purchase when you purchase the towbar. The red plug goes into the center port of the electronics box and the trailer wiring loom (the bit you plug the trailer into) plugs into the lower port.

Close up of the trailer module:

Aftermarket detachable towbars can be had for between 200 and 300 Pound and the trailer module will set you back about another 135 Quid. After installation of the hardware, you will need to do some coding to the trailer module and a few of the other modules like ABS and Central electrics etc. Either your installer should be able to do this or your local dealer (for a price).

Mechanical installation almost complete:

Bumper replaced:

Cover installed:

Oh, and that lower panel should set you back around another 200 Quid - at least it was about A$360 from one of my local dealers.

My Factory fit is ?650 all in so not too bad looking at bit-and-pieces prices.

I did query if it would be cheaper as tow bar prep meant the loom etc. became standard and was told where to go!! I thought it was reasonable as im paying for the whole lot, some of which is now standard but audi dont agree.

Looking at all that - I think that the ?650 factory fit towbar is not bad value?

It is so easy to use, the towbar stays attached to the car so can't get lost/damaged and has the red/green indicator lights etc.

I am glad I went for it.

Yeah but thankfully "soon" is rather vague

As for that nano thing, god help us all - and sadly these people own landrover too

Without a doubt the OEM towbar is the preferred option - if you can get it!

In Aus. they only offer the dealer fit option which is around A$2,500 (at current exchange rates that is around 1,500 Quid
). The dealer fit towbar here and in North America are of the square receiver style that I didn't like the look of hence the aftermarket detachable. To add insult, the dealer fit bar has a rated load limit of 2,000kg vs 2,400kg for both the OEM and the aftermarket Bosal that I went for.

This link shows what is on offer for the Aussies and the Sepo's from the dealer.
