I have the 8 speed S Tronic on the A8, it is the best auto gearbox I have driven, very smooth, powerful and great economy. I did drive an A7 with a 7 speed Tiptronic box and it was clunky, frequently seemed to be in the wrong gear and not have enough power when I needed it.

Yeah sorry, got them mixed up - its the 8 speed tiptronic and its excellent.
