Hi Everyone,

Well, after a short delay due to the registration transfer, I finally took delivery of our new baby late Friday afternoon.
It's a Q5 3.0 TDi SE, in Garnet red with cardamom beige interior. We added 20" alloys, MMI, technology pack, panoramic roof, cruise control, privacy glass and folding mirrors.
Aberdeen Audi were great. We got roof rails for free (apparently this is an Audi sponsored thing just now) but we also got a Q5 dog guard fitted for free too. Excellent

We took a trip down to Loch Lomond for the weekend and everything works wonderfully. I'm being gentle with the throttle, but you can just feel it wants to go faster

So, over 350 miles so far and average fuel was just over 35 mpg: mostly motorway (70/75 ish)/ A class roads with some town driving too.
Also worth noting from other forum discussions.... The ride on 20" alloys in the SE is fine. I was getting worried about crashing and banging after reading S-line reader posts, but i really believe that the 20's on the SE are great. A little bit fidgetty on broken surfaces (I'm being very picky there), but generally they absorb the bumps and holes really well. (We've moved from a Lexus RX and the ride is firmer but not any less comfortable. Also, tyre noise is less than in the Lexus !!!..... that was a surprise !)
Another thing worth noting.... there are no steering wheel paddles. (I thought there would be, but no). To be honest, i doubt if i would have used them after the first play anyway, so no loss for me at least.

Tried to attach a couple of pics :-

So, first impressions are great and I'm well chuffed. If it's reliable, I'll be over the moon.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike

Congrats on the new car, looks fab.

I'm the same as you and came from a Lexus. The tyre noise is much better in the Audi. Every Lexus model i've had has suffered the same problems.

How did you get the pics on? I've been trying for ages but keep getting message about file size too large.

Hi Stevepen,

Yeah, just typed the message, then scrolled down to the tab below and clicked on "Upload attachment". Browsed to the file and picked "Add the file". Just a JPG image that i resized down a bit in Paintshop Pro. Seems to be that the pictures sometimes work, sometimes don't ???

Cheers,

Mike.

Thanks Mike

I'm going to try and attach a couple now!

Notices your comment about the roof bars. I did't receive any with mine either so makes sense now about the dealer option. I phoned the dealer the day after the car was delivered to ask about the missing bars and they just dropped a pair off the day afterwards without a mention of the dealer option.

Nice photos..... and another lovely shiny Q5 !!!!
Bet you're well chuffed

It's interesting to see it next to a Cayenne. I think the Q5's are very deceptive in their size. On their own, they look quite compact, but it's only when you park up next to another 4x4 that you see the real size.

Cheers,
Mike

Great to see photos of new deliveries on here - mine should be with me in the next couple of weeks and I can't wait.

According to the Q5 brochure, roof bars come as standard on all models, so I'm a bit miffed about certain dealers (including the one I ordered my Q5 from) describing them as a promotion or as though the dealer is doing a favour by including them.

I spoke with a sales lady from an Audi dealer in Surrey. All their Q5s are PDIed to include roof bars as per standard spec yet two customers have called claiming not to have got them. Unofficially she feels there may be more who just don't realise they are entitled to them and she thinks they are going missing at the dealership. This might explain them turning up on eBay. I'll never use them but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be insisting on them.

We both think people are confused into thinking the longtitudinal bars on the roof are the roof bars mentioned in the standard spec (I certainly was before registering on this forum). Don't be surprised if, in the near future, Audi claim the same and stop providing the additional bars to save dealers the headaches.
