Hi guys - chipping in on this sunroof problem. I’ve got a mk2 2017 s-line with the pano roof. Thought I had inherited the dreaded sunroof noises. Turned out it was the parcel shelf mountings causing the squeaks and rattles. It has been mentioned before in the forum where somebody put velcro pads where the parcel shelf was mounted. Probably nothing to do with your issue, but I thought it was my sunroof and found the noises coming from my boot. Took out the parcel shelf to prove where the noise was coming from and noise was gone I think you may have an ongoing problem with your roof and hope it gets fixed. To anybody else hearing noises, check that parcel shelf.

*UPDATE*

Car is again booked in for the 23rd of March

I have been advised by the Tech Manager the Sunroof Frame will be replaced at a cost of £2000+

They had to eliminate all the previous all the previous fixes/items before they went ahead and asked Audi to replace a high cost item

I have no idea if the Frame is replaced only, or everything is replaced including the 2 pano windows? Anyone know what all gets replaced?

Will update this forum when I get the car back, but I have been advised the noise will be removed... (we will see)

I had mine replaced on my 2016 Q5 with just 1 month left under warranty - was like brand new again.

My 2019 Q5 has been fine.

Hi. I bought a low mileage 2014 SQ5 with pano roof that I found was creaking after purchase. Went down the dealer sunroof service route with all seals greased etc at £250. Didn’t help. Took the sq5 to an independent Audi specialist and they found a TPI repair for Noises from the headlining around the panno roof. This involved putting felt tape between the metal to metal clips that attach the headlining around the perimeter of the panno roof. This was done by me and quieted down the creaking but there was still a creaking that drove me ???? mad! So I stripped out all the headlining, removed panno glass then dropped the panno frame out of car. Put the felt tape on all contact surfaces between panno frame and car body. Reassembled and all creaking gone. Both fixes were required to sort the creaking panno roof on my 2014 SQ5. The tape was TESA 4541 40mm wide and came as a part from Audi at £50 a roll

Hi I bought a2016 Q5 special edition. I started getting a tapping noise from the front left handside of the sunroof. I went down the dealer route of a service and it stopped for a few months. It's now back again as bad as ever. Iv booked the car in to a local garage as I try to avoid the dealership
Due to dispute over them telling me a service would fix the problem then they didn't want to know and wanted more cash. Any info I could pass on to local garage or would I be better biting the bullet and return to dealership. Thanks in advance

a few days ago i bought my audi q5 and we started to hear a little squeak on the roof, we took it to audi, after a few days the car was delivered to me a week later the sound appeared again. I took it back to Audi and this time the car took more days to review, they said they adjusted some things on the roof and the sound disappeared again. this same thing happened 3 more times, the car for several days in Audi and the sound problem on the ceiling was solved for a few days and it sounded again. checking the sunroof myself I realized that the The wind reflector when closing the sunroof and going through potholes moved and hit the teeth that hold them to the sunroof, I think these teeth are not long enough to leave Holding the deflector tight against the base, so when going through bumps it moves, I thought to add something to these teeth and the sound disappeared.I leave here images and details of what I did, since taking the car back to Audi would be a waste of time and money.I cut 4 rectangular pieces of hard rubber, it could be from a tire or something that is not paste, it must be hard rubber, and I added to the right and left teeth of the sunroof These rubbers, two on each side with instant glue, is definitely my solution, I can open and close the roof, and without the irritating sound. I hope someone finds this cheap solution useful. economical and simple
