Just noticed that the S-Tronic needs an oil and filter change at 38,000 miles.

My car has just had its second service at 34,000.

What have others done wait till the next routine service or take the car in at exactly 38,000?

If you had your service done at an Audi dealer, then its a poor show that they didn't advise you of the imminent service which is required to maintain the warranty on the drivetrain.

Don't risk it by leaving it till after the period, that's an opportunity for Audi to wriggle out of any warranty on the gearbox.

38,000 is a very very very important gearbox oil change. The dealer should have brought this to you attaention at 34k miles service and probably done it then. You are on the variable service inetrval and if you are keping the car for quire a few years I would advise fixed 10k service intervals. Engines, turbos etc need the best oil and regular changes to be reliable in the long term. Most experts feel that the variable service intervals damage the cars engine and other components that require lubrication.

Thanks for the replies. As you can see from my other thread, my car was not exactly serviced efficiently to say the least! Going to try another dealer in West Yorkshire if anyone has any recommendations?

As my car is out of warranty I have decided to continue with main dealer longlife servicing but have an oil and filter change every 10k or 12 months at a local independent.

Again any West Yorkshire members suggest anywhere?

I know it's all relative to the cost of the car, but yesterday it cost me ÂŁ194 just for an oil change service at 13.5k at Aberdeen Audi. Not sure if I'd want to pay that if my car was out of warranty though!

That's cheap. Its ÂŁ225 down South. Now just wait for your next service and double that figure.
