That is a pretty poor job - although I have to say the Crystal paint is almost impossible to match perfectly... The dent is inexcusable though.

Can you negotiate keep this car while they build you a new one? What would make you happy? Whatever it is, make them do it - I think you have the grounds looking at the car to ask for whatever you like...

What about a whole new door panel - and get the paint a lot better than that...?

I reckon a new door panel sprayed by someone that REALLY knows what they are doing will get it good enough that you can't tell unless you were told and then look at it at 3 different angles to see a slight difference (they may end up spraying it 2-3 times to get it right as its a bit of pot luck as to how the flick lands...) - I'd plum for that.

Start negotiations at new car built and keep this while you wait - with SQ5's residuals so high they will be able to sell it on for minimal loss (what's your mileage?).

Also get Audi UK involved now - call customer services, make it clear you are NOT happy and email them these picks - basically attack at every angle to get the best result you can. You just spent ÂŁ50k - it should be damn well right!

I don't know if trading standards might be worth a call as well, as I would say this repair is really not good enough and certainly not part of what you signed up for when you ordered the car... Can't hurt to call them and see where you stand?

Just send a link to this thread! The PR dept will have a heart attack that so many people are seeing this poor service from Audi...

You think they don't get this 100 times a day and same on social media? This forum has next to no users, so its not really going to impact anything! Issue is at the dealer level - the dealer damaged a car (based on the info in this thread), its them you should be shaming not Audi.

Not really different to if you crashed, scraped or pranged the car yourself - you get it fixed.
I find the dealers actions questionable, but they don't have to declare it, but in not doing so you get this type of thing. to me a simple call, we messed up lets work out how to move forward would have been the direction. I had a very similar issue with a car in 08, the strapped used to hold the cars on the transported dropped onto the roof of mine while in transit and the dealer refused to accept a rejection and we had no choice but to accept a repair - legally they can do this, as long as it satisfies the conditions stated in SOG. I too didn't find the issue until post collection - i was cleaning it on Sept 1 and noticed the repair as the light started to change. I left a VM on the dealers answer phone stating i needed a call back in the morning. End result was i I got the repair corrected to my quality expectations. (if they are higher than Audis - so be it).
It's just another weapon in the armoury - and frequenting a number of Audi forums, no, they don't actually have many complaints aired online and in social media... So one as serious as this they should definitely take note.
While it is the dealer who seems to have wrongly found this an acceptable level of repair, Audi take service VERY seriously and will not be happy that one of their franchises is portraying the brand in this way.

Also - while there are usually only 6-7 members online at any one time, there are always 100-200 Guest/Google users reading - this site gets read more often than people think. Search for anything Q5 related and there will always be a thread from here in the top 10.

We don't know what the dealer thought in terms of quality, it could be one of those that you only see in a certain light (OP didn't notice for a week), so in all fairness they 'may' have believed they had done it correctly. Maybe I'm a fool and always see both sides of a story.

But i'm kinda worried about this being a crystal paint issue or 'feature'.
The dent is inexcusable...

I agree that crystal paint (like metallic) is a pain to match. But for sure you can get it better than the above.

It's been moved to Dealer Experiences (though I'm not sure you have mentioned the dealer in question yet...?)

And shout louder... They are playing hard ball as this will cost them money, just keep pressing and pressing like an annoying itch. If you send an email and call every day continually saying you are not happy they will cave in and do you a better deal - do the same to Audi UK customer services.

I would definitely mention the brand loyalty - a lot!

I could be wrong but isn't the paint they've used phantom vs panther? It seems so to me but I'm no expert on the audi blacks
It's Panther they've used - its just the purple/green flick in the crystal paint is almost impossible to match to the factory coat.

Interesting that the Audi UK Facebook admin responds to most posts good and bad but hasn't responded to yours yet...

I would PM the page asking for their feedback - as I suggested previously just keep attacking EVERY little crack and angle you can if you want to get a better result. Be the guy that they want to placate just to make their own life easier...
