Hi Stewart

I ended up pay ?445.00 from the dealer, i walk in the lakes and i am somtimes a bit isolated. A spare wheel should be provided as standard, the foam is not ideal.

Yes I too have been nervious about going off-road without a proper spare, to placed where I would not expect the RAC to get to. Even if they could get to you what would they do to fix a shreded tyre. Leave the car on a jack and go off to a tyre dealer?

The other option is to go for a set of winter wheels from which you can choose to carry one or two as spares. The only problem is where to put them. There was a post some months ago about replacing the standard boot floor panel with a raised wooden platform that so as to accomodate a full sized wheel.
