Hi all,

We should be collecting the Q5 in June, build wk was wk 20. When we're picking it up will the dealers ask us to pay the extra road tax, ie the showroom tax? We're getting the 2.0 TDI 170ps.

Does the on the road price include the new tax? Or is it priced up with the normal yearly road tax figure of ?180. I hope im right in saying the showroom tax in ?250. So will the dealer be insisting we pay the ?70 difference to them?

Also, if VAT rises to 20% in the June budget, will audi be asking us to pay the increased rite straight away? I'm hoping ours will arrive before the VAT goes up so it wont apply, but if not its going to hike the price by nearly ?1000.

Many thanks

Matt.

Matt,
The extra road tax you will be liable for,you will have to pay the extra ?70,the vat increase seems to differ between dealers mine is build week 27 and have been told that audi will pick up the vat increase if it comes in before, also will not be affected by the 2% increase on the Q5 which comes into force on tuesday.
hope this helps

Hi Matt
< I pick my car up on 1st June and the dealer told me I would have to pay the showroom tax. I have a meeting at 13.30 with them to finalize price etc. I will no for sure after this.
To avoid a VAT rise is it a possibility to pay for the car before the budget to avoid the rise. I would ask your dealer.

regards

Shame

With regards to the VAT rise if it comes in we are all stuffed as we have no choice to pay it.

I asked about paying early and was told its not possible as they cannt raise the invoice until the chassis number and reg plate are allocated, and the car MUST be in the country as well, so no pre-payment to avoid the VAT rise (if and when it happens)

I asked the dealer about the VAT rise and he said they couldn't protect me from it. I do hope Audi UK might do something for existing orders, but the way the euro is right now, I'd be surprised if anything happened...

How did you manange to get them to agree to that Rich?
The misses phoned him on tuesday to query the build date and the first thing he said dont worry about the vat rise your covered "apparently audi put funds aside"
.I saw the salesperson on wednesday and he told me the same thing. Then sent him an email asking him to confirm the vat and the sports suspension which he did.
