I have 2.Tdi SE (stronic) so the grill is matt black with chrome surround. Didn't go for the S line which I know has vertical chrome on the grill with chrome surround. Driving along today and a Q5 comes up behind me with shiny black vertical bars and a shiny black surround on the grill. Never seen this before. Anyone know what it is ?

I think the pack is absolutely stunning. Reminds of bmw shadow line trim.

What are people's opinions of the black styling pack on a black car?

Lighting would make a difference somewhat I guess but personally, I think the chrome finish looks better (on most colours) and the black styling pack has the effect of making the car look slightly cheaper. Still 50/50 about it though.
Other opinions welcome.

Contrast is everything. You're 50/50 now but what if you posted a white or red car instead of a black one. Black on white over silver on white anyday of the week.

I think it looks much smoother, cleaner, meaner, sportier. For a factory look it looks great. Because a car has no chrome around the windows doesn't make it cheap. Is ferrari cheap?
Audi has done the right thing with the q5. ?225 buys you all the exclusivity you want while the car comes with chrome as standard. Everybody wins. My only gripe is that they don't offer darker alloys for the q5. Would same me the hassle cleaning them, plus they look better (debatable I know).

Fair point. I posted a (Phantom) black car because that's the colour I am planning to pick. That or Quartz Grey. Still undecided.
