We have had our Q5 for two months now. When we bought it, it had 8,000 miles on the clock and the dealer said it would be up to 2 years or 19,000 miles before it needs it's first service.
We have now done 2,000 miles in the short time we have had the car and it's now telling us that we need a service in 17 days or 3000 mile time!!!
I've told the dealer and he has said that it's due to short journeys that thickens the oil, and suggested we take it for a long run as that might change the service interval......what a load of BOLLOCKS!!!

We do use the car on long runs aswell as my wife using it daily for short runs to work. Seems to me as though Audi are screwing me for more cash now we've bought the thing and there's nothing i can do about it.

Nice car - rip off parts and servicing!!!

Hmmm, I see you have the 2.0T petrol, these need more regular oil changes than the diesels. Your service would just be an oil change though I think (£130 ish). The 19k is based on longer runs so if you are just doing short trips you're going to need an oil change every 10k and an inspection and oil change every 20k. Wait for Audi to tell you that you need new discs and pads at 20k miles too, that's what happened with my last car.

Just take it to a local independant AUDI specialist why pay main dealer prices for a change of oil?!

@LuxGood: the fact that it states 17 days or 3,000 miles suggests to me that this is a TIME based service interval and not mieage, looking in the brochure it looks like you are on Fixed inspection servicing rather than variable:
Fixed Inspection Service Schedule
Vehicle usage:
Mileage Less than 10,000 miles per annum
Type of journey Mainly city/town centre driving.
Short journeys
Conditions
Frequent cold starts.
High engine loading - e.g. frequent hill
climbs, vehicle fully loaded, towing
Driving style
Uneconomical - e.g. heavy acceleration,
heavy braking, constant changes in speed,
constant use of high revs, 'sporty' driving
Service Intervals:
Oil-change Service Fixed to every 9,000* miles/1 year
Inspection Service Fixed to every 19,000* miles/2 years

Yeh ok thanks for that. Taking it in Friday and we'll see what they say.
My point is that it should of had this oil change before we had it......not two months and 1,500 miles later....not right!!!

Please let us know the cost and what work was required, mine is going in for a first 5k oil change in January which I think will be £120 or so (hopefully).

Went in on Friday and it does need an oil change service. Audi Worcester were fantastic to be fair, and they have said that they will do this free of charge as we have only had the car 2 months.
I take it back about Audi being rip off on servicing
.......but the parts are still expensive!!
