I placed my order for a Q5 about 3 weeks ago. The dealer said the delivery would be late September / early October.
Latest news is that my car should be built in week 37, so delivery would be 2 to 3 weeks after that..... Fingers crossed.

Mine has been brought forward to week 21st Sep so expecting delivery in about three weeks time, hope it's worth the wait?
2.0TDI S-Line S-Tronic in Ice silver with pan roof and Drive select (dampers) and a few other options.

Bill, My 2.0T SE S-Tronic in White with Pan Roof and Drive Select Dampers is being built the same week
... although mine was delayed rather than brought forward two weeks - I wonder whether Audi bunch together builds with drive select?

Hi Scissors
It would make sense to do that, I would say that as mine has been brought forward, nice to see that you have opted for the drive select as well, looking forward to feeling the difference in the comfort mode and the Pan roof should lighten up the all black interior. I have ordered front heated seats along with the storage pack and the internal light pack plus the tyre display. It would cost a fortune to fit all the options this will have to do me.

With so much negative comment about the firm ride (especially from Nova Invicta on here), I couldn't afford to go without damper control. I also went for SE so that I'd be on standard rather than sports suspension of the S-Line, which I'm told is stiffer. According to my dealer (who made enquiries for me with the factory), the damper control option involves not only a different shock absorber but also a different spring too, so it makes sense that these are manufactured and installed in batches.

My options include tech pack, rear view camera, storage pack, internal lights, B&O, three-zone aircon (sorry to mention this - I've read your story about whether this is standard on the 2.0TDI!) and most important of all.... climate cup holder.

Hi Scissors
That spec must have cost you! I am retired and my spec is all I could budget for sob story, as for the Drive select (damper) goes, it doesn't matter which model you chose it will come with the sport suspension as part of the Drive select package I know because I tried to get the damper package for ?350.00 as the S-Line came with the sports suspension as standard but no luck had to pay the full ?950.00 or so for it.

Yes, a pricy set of options, but the mortgage is a lot cheaper these days

I was concerned that drive select would mean I'd get sports suspension automatically (which I didn't want), so I asked my dealer to check. He contacted the factory and was told that the springs on the SE with damper control aren't the sports springs. (That's how I came to know both springs and shock for damper control builds are different from non-damper control builds). Either your dealer or mine is telling a lie!

If you build your car on the Audi website when you chose Drive select it only comes with Sport suspension and damper control or damper control and Dynamic steering, or you can have both.
check it your self on there site, they updated the site after I pointed it out the the Audi dealer Glasgow, thats why I was trying to get the damper package itself for ?350.00.
Any way some people are quite satisfied with the standard set up on the S-Line so I suppose its a matter of taste.

Hi again Bill - the wording of the Audi Website's Configurator was exactly what prompted me to make enquiries with Audi, as nowhere in the Q5 brochure does it link Drive Select with sports suspension.

Having done a quick Google search, it seems than on the A4 the Damper Control upgrade is much cheaper if you're also going for an S-Line, which suggests the springs on an A4 with Damper Control are the same as in an S-Line. As Damper Control is the same price irrespective of SE or S-Line on the Q5, I read that as an indication that the unit doesn't share any similarities with the S-Line sports suspension.

I'm sure I will be happy with whatever I get, especially as I'm upgrading from a VW Polo 1.4 75PS!

BTW, even though my Q5 should have been built this week, I was given an estimated week for delivery to the dealer as the week commencing 26 October, which seems too long after the build week. I'm wondering if they are deliberately over-estimating so they can give me a call at some point soon with the "good news" that "it's going to be a week early". Have you been given a date for collection?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Scissors
I am now having an argument with my self, just checked again on the Audi web site and the Drive select option on the
S-Line configuration has been changed to the same as the SE set up for Drive select, no mention now of the Sport suspension, thats why I challenged the sales person at the time of purchase as the S-Line comes STD with the sports spring so should have cost less just to fit the dampers, think they made a bloomer and still want the full price whether your car comes with the sports suspension or not,so who knows.
Like you self I am moving from a VW Golf to the Q5.
Will post report on the suspension when I get the car.
PS. Haven't been contacted by Glasgow Audi yet.

Hi Bill - you're right, the Audi Configurator definitely has changed. The Damper Control option used to be labelled "Damper Control with Sports Suspension" whether on a SE or an S-Line build, but now its just "Damper Control". Will share my experiences of the suspension and damper control too! Can hardly wait!

ordered mine back end of July - build week 39 so just gone, and I have been told its built. Now the timing delay will be shipping as its not yet been moved for shipment! I am looking forward to getting this as its the beast of all Q5's 3.0 tdi s-line, pan roof, every conceivable extra and to top it off the bang and O system (can?t wait) Was disappointed with the 2.0 I drove as it seemed very sluggish but I have been reliable told that it can be chipped. concerning the drive select - sports mode is fantastic so stop worrying!!!!
