And can you fit it on your own without damaging the car

Thanks guys,

I'm toying with the idea of getting one for hols....what with the dog cage in the boot a bit of extra space might be needed.

I would have to fit it myself as my wife is in too much pain with Oestoarthritis to help. I remember years ago having a really big one that was a nightmare to get onto the roof of a Jeep....too heavy. Had to get a neighbour to help.

So it will have to be a small one this time if I go for it.

Stewart, how big is your R/box

Thanks chaps,

Some very good advice.

Think to be certain of working with the dsc.....if I do decide I need one......I think it will have to be oem. But I will check out Thule first.

That looks a good size. I'm assuming 200 refers to the volume

Is it a one person lift onto the roof or have you got one of these box lifting devices

Is this the same fitting as the OEM

If so it's made by Kamei.

I really like the Kamei Covara 390 roofbox in Titanium Grey

Anyone know if the roof bars are the same as those shown in this Youtube clip

Thanks

Having had a close look. I reckon the OEM 440 litre one in the Audi brochure @ ?385 is in fact the Thule Atlantis 200 available at ?272 from Thule UK.

So food for thought. I think I may take Crustynoodle's advice and go for that one and save some cash.

That looks good
Thanks Robbie

I'm still tempted by that Kamei 390 in grey. Waiting for some colour samples from Roofbox
I'll look forward to that
Thanks Robbie

That looks good. Did you put it on yourself or did you have a helper

I ideally need to be able to do it myself and if not I will have to ask a neighbour.

Sadly my current garage is too small to get any car into. Maybe next house move will fix that.

Next purchase is a new dog cage then will see if we have enough room with back seats folded down for our baggage. We had a big roofbox years ago which ended up gathering dust till I sold it......so if we can do without I'd prefer it.
Got the Kamei samples today. I think the black looks best with Daytona Grey. The grey is very light.

Off to get a dog cage measured up tomorrow. So will see after that
