Hi all,

We had a look at the Q5 yesterday in the garage, waiting for them to do pre delivery stuff and for us to pick it up.

In the boot was the roof bars in cardboard, and there was also a black Audi bag in there aswell, dealer saying its a bag for the bars.

Is the bag standard now? Dealer said a bit ago the bag was only becoming standard on the 2011 spec.

Has everyone been given the bag?

Cheers.

Rapidcool,

We're planning on picking it up Thurs morning, it's typical, neither of us can get through to collect it before then.

Got all weekend and Monday off work to enjoy it.

Not bad to say it wasn't due till Aug/Sept, but glad its come now because it means we'll miss any VAT rise.

cheers,

Matt

I asked dealer yesterday about the VAT rise and he said Audi would expect the customers to pay the rise.
My dealer said the same thing, others have been told they won't have to pay any VAT rise. The paperwork we all signed allows them to wiggle their way out of any VAT rise.

In truth, I don't think anyone really knows, because a VAT raise isn't even definite (although extremely likely). My feeling is if a VAT rise is announced, Audi UK will look at not passing it onto customers and make a decision based on the cost of it versus how much it will upset people. They did protect people when VAT rose from 15% back to 17.5%, but given the terrible state of the Euro at the moment, it might be harder to justify this next time around...

They didn't protect me from the 15% to 17.5% rise.

VAT is applicable at the point of invoice, which can only be when the car is delivered.

If Audi decide to "absorb" any differences that is up to them (unlikely in most cases I would think?), but the VAT has to be paid to HMRC at the prevailing rate, not what it was when ordered.

Davey,

When i phoned the dealer to ask about the delivery the day after the election,I was told before even asking that i was protected from the expected 2.5% vat rise and the 2% audi rise(ordered 6th feb).it looks like it's dealer dependant.

Just spoke to the Audi dealership in Derby and he said last time this happened customers were given the chance to pay for the vehicle in full up front, which makes sense as the invoice is raised at that point. I suppose it depends if VAT is raised with immediate effect or from a ceratin date.

I think the budget is on the 24th june so im sure thats when it will go up,not so sure if paying for the car totally up front would be a good idea, just in case it doesnt come in exactly as you ordered it or the delivery went back again(which seems to be happening quite a lot)

Hi Rich,

Sounds like my dealer was only speaking for themselves back during the 17.5% -> 15.% VAT rise. I'd like to think we'll all be protected from the coming VAT raise!
