I don't want to order the MMI Sat Nav option, it's very expensive for what it is. Is it possibe to order the DAB radio and Audi Music Interface (AMI) on their own?
Otherwise my choice is...
2.0 Tdi, Lava Grey, Brown Ash Inserts, Storage Pk, Electric Lumbar, DAB,AMI, Heated Front Seats, Rear Bench, Hill Hold, Rear Airbags, Tyre Monitor, 3 Zone Climate, Interior Lights & manual Blinds

As I understand it, yes it's possible to order seperately although if you believe the brochure, you can't order the AMI without the SatNav.
I have ordered AMI without the satnav. (Let's hope I don't get a call about this in the next few days!)

Cheers Andy, I spoke with my dealer and he insisted that the AMI & DAB is ONLY available with Sat Nav and that the Stereo without Sat Nav does not come with the SD card slot. Audi have so many variations on their cars I don't think anyone really knows. Any one else?

Just witnessed their lack of knowledge at the dealership whilst looking round the Q5 - they really are in the dark with the options.
However, I will be really hacked off if I can't connect an iPod to the system without Satnav - I totally refuse to spend ?2k on something quite frankly is not fit for purpose in this day and age. Yes, it looks snazzy and has 3D buildings but won't allow sensibly priced, regular map updates and won"t allow the speed camera locations to be added.
What I'd call a good old fashion rip-off!
/End of rant

PS Nowhere in the PDF brochure does it say that DAB has to have Satnav whereas AMI does say this

Well, as expected, AMI is only available with SatNav

So the dealer is going to do a dealer fit of something (well done dealer!) so I can plug in an iPod. I don't really care if the main display comes up with the song details, it's just the sound I'm interested in.
So instead of Audi pushing me to have the Satnav because I want to listen to my iPod, they have lost an extras order and the dealer fit version is apparently a lot cheaper than ?200

Crazy Audi, crazy.....

Andy - I think this is the case of old school car marketing - the days of 'no other option' are gone - there are so many superb after market options available know the manufacturers such as AUDI really need to raise their game

Im going for the 2.0TFSI in S Line with Daytona Grey Pearl, Technology Pack, Storage Pack, Rear Bench Seat, Hill Hold Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitor, Interior Light Package, Adaptive Lights, Towbar, 3 Zone Climate Control, Door Mirrors Electronically Adjustable, Headed, Folding etc. & High Beam Assist would have liked 20in rims but got to draw the line somewhere!
The dealer states the S Line cars start production week 47 so dont know whether thats a December delivery or January.
I looked at everything else out there as I want a vehicle I can tow with, auto box, sporty and it really came down to the X3 or the Audi Q5 my dream ticket would have been 2.0 diesel with auto however only X3 can be had this way but the reports on the harsh ride really put me off that and its being replaced in 2009.

Porch are supposedly using the same chassis as the Q5 to build a smaller SUV.

Hi Nova - Welcome

I have been told week 47 build translates into early Jan delivery. I presume they are covering themselves for the Christmas shutdown. It would be nice to think it will come just before the holiday but I wouldn't count on it.

I don't know if I have misred spec. but if you order Sat Nav, unlike all other Audi cars, it does not include the multi CD changer, you only look to have a single slot for CD/DVD which presumably will be taken up with Nav DVD leaving you unable to play a CD. This forces you to also buy CD changer or music interface for an I pod.

The Sat Nav is hard disk based so no need for a DVD. The unit also comes with x2 SD card readers which will hold 4,000+ song depending on size and also you can burn music on to 10GB of spare hard disk space. You could also add AMI and then there's absolutely no need for a multi change CD player. Shame all these options are reliant on the sat nav system!

My commitment to the Q5 is draining quickly, Audi seem to have spec'd up the model with useless tat and expect us to pay for everything else we need. i.e. AMI & DAb (but only if you spend ?2k on the sat nav), 3 way air con, bluetooth, mirrors etc. I've had a couple of quotes via contract hire contact and the Q5 is likely to set me back ?650 - ?700 / month, when I can get a spec'd up A4 Avant TDi 170 for ?455 inc service & maintenance, ?200 notes is a significant incentive to not buy! (These are based on no deposit and 16k miles per year over 4 years)Dilemma

After visiting Audi today may modify slightly change from metalic paint to Ibis White and to 20" Double Spoke rims. The dealer we popped into in Swindon had a showroom full of Ibis White cars and they really looked the dogs *******. They gave me a tiny Q5 booklet and as Im new to Audi I looked at the cockpits of the A4 Avant & A5 to get an idea what the Q5 will be like. The interiors seem better engineered than either M-B & BMW although I must confess my present BMW 530D is a fantastic drivers car and has been faultless. Previous to that I had a M-B E Class which was simply the worse M-B I have ever owned a real lemon car.
The dealer confirmed S-Line cars will start to be delivered in January.
