6 changes to standard specs

1) Towbar preparation standard (all models)
2) Bag with roofrails standard (all models)
3) DIS with efficiency advice (red/black on base model, full colour on SE/Sline)
4) Start/Stop on 2 litre manual cars (2.0TFSI and 2.0TDI)
5) Windscreen with Acoustic Glass Coating (Sline, ?SE)
6) Sline now with standard suspension, sport suspension no-cost optional extra

note that 6) seems to mean that you will get standard suspension with a MY2011 Sline unless you specifically order sports suspension.

Stratos Blue colour deleted, Mahogany (?) Brown introduced.

Changes to some option equipment costs (all up). One I can remember was Hill Hold Assist rising from ?45 to ?65.

Interesting!

Do these changes apply to all cars built after a certain date? I've seen build week 21 quoted as the change over date - I wonder if any other dealers have confirmed this? I am pretty certain that my car will be built after week 21 so can I expect my dealer to call me to confirm which suspension I prefer?

More questions than answers lol

Dnw......Which Audi web site did you find this info on please? I've searched everywhere and can't find any particular news on the UK MY2011 spec. I assume this is the MY year due in June?

Anyone know when a new brochure will be released?

I'd like to be able to fine tune my order. It always amazes me that changes get announced in the USA and Canada first. Suppose I'll just have to try and be patient
Glad I don't want mine till after 20th December.

I assume if you are having the adjustable suspension then it will have to be the sports suspension?

I did find that the new Q7 3.0 Tdi will get the stop/start gizmo and also the 7 speed Stronic becomes 8 speed Stronic.

Also a SQ5 is coming with bulging body kit.

Audi private intranet at a dealers and to clarify these are the UK changes, not US/Canada. If you're dealer isn't aware of it, tell them to go to "2011 Model Year Changes" then "Q5" and its all there.

I wondered about that too - if you have an order in for an Sline that is being built after the MY switch over, I wonder if they will alert the dealers to ask you if you want the sports suspension or not?

I'm interested that you want it - there are a lot of posts saying that it is way too hard and the fact that they have changed it at the manufacturer level seems to suggest that maybe they have had a lot of feedback saying as such!

I will give it a couple of weeks then ask the dealer to check - I will probably go for normal suspension.

Hello dnw,

Thank you very much for this information, i'm from France and i had ordered a Q5 2 weeks ago (2.0TFSi, manual), the delivery is planned for november 2010.

Do you think it will be with or without Start & Stop ?

Do you know when the production line switch to 2011 spec ?

Best regards

Thomas

With regards to the suspension, it wasnt mentioned when i got the 2011 spec changes but it doesnt surprise me. how are we ment to decide what to have without beign able to drive both back to back which is nigh on impossible?

I suppose you could compare an SE to an Sline. I'm in two minds which way to go- I didn't find anything wrong with the sport suspension of three drives of the car- but none was really long enough to be sure. I also find the non-sport suspension in my BMW too bouncy at speed on the motorway, although again comparing apples with oranges. There are many posts and reviews saying it is too hard though.... hmm.

As this is a mechanical change on the production line and not a region specific trim spec, your car will almost certainly have stop/start.

Accoustic glass coating - I'm sure LR brought that out in the latest RRS updates.......something to do with cutting wind noise.......so I guess it can only be better.

Yes it is damm near impossible to decide on this suspension issue. The only car my dealer has for test drives is one white S line with sports suspensionon on 19" wheels. The only other Q5 they had was an SE and that was in the showroom. Tried another dealer prior to that one and they were the same stock wise.

Anyway I didn't find it too bad.... But I thought the safest compromise was to go with the adjustable dampers. That way presumeably I could have the best of both worlds.....I hope?

But what now?

Has anyone wished they had got wing mirrors with the Auto dimming feature or is it not a problem at night. I just suddenly thought with those high mirrors almost in your line of sight that they might reflect the glare from following cars lights at night. Any thoughts?

Sorry if this isn't going to help you too much Josh.

I've had auto dimming wing mirrors on my last two cars and I have to say that I do like them because they seem to distract you less when a car is up close on a night. I've ordered them on my car mainly because they came as part of another package but, that said, I'm not sure if I would compromise my delivery date by adding them at a later stage.

Cheers,

Kev

Thanks Kev.....I don't suppose it will make much difference if I change now as I'm way off getting a build slot. So I've changed to the memory seat pack to give me the dimming mirrors.

But I certainly don't want to be tweaking for much longer or i will run into problems.

I'm sticking with the Audi Drive select on 19" wheels. Although I've not tried it I think it will be the better compromise in the end.

I'm now going to throw the brochure in the bin so that I can't go.....ooh I wonder if I should have got that
