Great News my car is at dealers ready for delivery 1st June. Can`t wait.
Q5 S Line S tronic, Lava Grey, Pan Roof, Cruise, Collapsible Spare wheel,Light pack, Privacy Glass ??????? Heated Seats.
One problem someone forgot to put the Privacy glass on the order.
What a prospect New car to have all rear half windows replaced, I have had no word on what the dealer proposes so watch this space,
If any one has any advice it would be appreciated.
Regards Neil.

I have the privacy glass on my Q5 and my advice is dependent on where you live and what type of driving you do.

If you live in town and mainly drive in town where street lights at night are bright then the privacy glass is a possibility. It does afford rear seat passengers some comfort from the sun during the day, or if you have the seats folded down with items stored, it does provide extra security as people cannot see in. We frequently carry rifles so the privacy glass is good there.

However, if you live in the country where roads have dim lighting or no lighting I would not recommend the privacy glass. This is because the reversing lights on the Q5 are totally inadequate. The privacy glass, coupled with a dark wet night, makes reversing around stable yards with all sorts of obstacles, or trying to hitch up a trailer positively dangerous!! I have not hit anything yet, but I fear it is only a matter of time. (Rear parking sensors do no good when you want to park within 12 inches!

You have two choices, push for a refund plus discount because of an error on their part, or get them to correct the failure.

Personally, I would go for the refund and discount.

You could go down the Pentagon route.....aftermarket tints.......BUT the rear glass and the heated elements with an aftermarket tint will never look good as the horizontal metal strips usually sit slightly proud of most car glass and create a small airpocket......which never looks as good as factory build.

Personally I'd be gutted if they miss that of my order as I have two little dogs travelling in a cage in the back. Privacy glass makes a big difference to their comfort on a hot day and no amount of financial compensation would make up for that with me.

Hence why I'm off to check my order tomorrow.

I am watching Neil - and worrying a little. I think you used Hull Audi didn't you?

I was in there on Saturday to try and sort the suspension issue out - I noticed a white Q5 in the prep bay but not a grey. Is it really taking them two weeks to get it ready?

Took the opportunity to have a look at my order on the system and, fingers crossed, all appears to be OK. Just need to be sure that it arrives with the sports suspension. They were supposed to be checking it out today but I haven't had the chance to call them.

Hull Audi it is. I have seen the car and it looks great apart from the lack of the privacy glass.
The sales man showed me the car on Saturday and was extremely nervous as I looked around it.
He was going to ring me yesterday but guess what, no call.
Will give him to the end of today before I pay them another visit.
Waiting till 1st of June because it ties up nicely with return of present car etc, also gives Hull Audi time to do some glazing ??????.

I wouldn't bother - take the refund.

I think the privacy glass from the B pillar back only, makes cars and especially SUV's look a bit like vans? If it was A pillar back, I could see the point and may well have ordered it.

I got privacy glass on my s line and I'm glad I did, most Q5's I see here in Northern Ireland almost all don't have privacy and they just look really plain. I'm not a fan of privacy glass and only got because my friend insisted! but he was right!

I just wish i had got the pull up blinds as well for the kids 'cause the privacy doesn't really shield the sun, they were only ?100 and i have no idea why i didn't! But my recommendation is get the glass, no matter how good the tinted film is it still never looks as good as the glass.
