Particulate Filter

This symbol came up on my dashboard last thursday. I don’t do a lot of mileage. I bought my 2011 Q5 S-line Quattro in 2017 with 32k miles and I average 5k miles per annum and it’s now on about 62k.

After having read online to boot the car down a motorway to try and clear the particulate filter I took it for a drive today but couldn’t get it passed 60MPH although the revs were maintained between 2k and 3k. When I switched the car on the Engine Management indicator lamp started flashing and remained flashing and the Emmission Control System lamp came up.

All 3 symbols are still on. Am I in real schtuck now? Am I going to have to fork out thousands to replace the Particulate Filter? I also read online to use Redex in the fuel tank. Is this worth a shot? Or should I give up and sell it? Thanks 🙃

Might be worth having codes read and cleared (try carista). This may enable you to give it a thrash.
You can try a terraclean. (I have done with modest results). Second I used archoil ar6400 d max in half a tank of fuel. Improved a lot. Finally used wynns egr cleaner direct into intake (as per instructions). These are all worth a try before you get onto having your dpf removed and cleaned.

You can do a forced regeneration with Carista.
TerraClean worked for me when I had similar problem.

Thanks a lot. So first I’ll download the Carista app and then buy some terraclean. I was going to use Redex. I only filled up my tank yesterday so i can’t use arch oil yet… 👍

Fingers crossed for a good result. I would suggest you do not drive the car until you get DPF cleaned.
