Hi Guys,
The parking brake on my MY10 Q5 2.0 TFSi has stopped auto releasing...
Drove off earlier today and instead of the parking brake releasing automatically as usual the car didn't move and I had a release parking brake message on the dash display.
Anyone else experienced this issue?

Well it goes to show how little Audi service staff know about their products

Having spoken to an advisor at my supplying dealership (I won't mention names to avoid embarrassment) I was advised that the car had to be on an incline for this feature to work despite the fact that I'd mentioned to the chap that the car wasn't fitted with the hill assist option....
So then I read the handbook (which is what we all do when all else fails!) and of course the auto brake release only works when you're wearing your seatbelt...DOH!
This car is far too cleaver for my own good

LOL exactly what I was doing!

I think you will find that you can release the parking brake without putting your seatbelt on if you press the footbrake and press down the parking brake button at the same time. It's useful if you are opening a gate or moving in a parking space etc...

Doh x 2 - Thanks, I could never figure why auto release only worked sometimes. Just goes to show RTFM usually best

You're right Rich - I'll not mention the other three occasions

I don't bother putting it on now!
