Hi all.

Great forum for someone like me who is about to order a Q5. I've managed to fill a lot of holes in my knowledge of the car and its specifications.

I still have a a few of those gaps though! I'm amazed that the brochure does not properly explain what all the options "do". For example, so many people here have ordered (and like) the rear bench seat - but I'm still not clear as to its function, so I don't know whether or not I need it. I hadn't even noticed the hill assist option in the options list until I read about it here (thanks all) and I'm pretty sure that I will order that now.

I was thinking though that it would be useful if current owners could post here a brief description of the value or otherwise of each option? Unless it's obvious of course. Even the three-zone climate control - I mean, I know what it does, but I've never owned it before and therefore never missed it... so is it worth the money and why?

Some specific 'wants' in terms of information for me would be (as indicated) the rear bench seat, the 3 zone climate, the audio options and the mobile phone options.

I've copied a list of options from a previous thread by Andy to save me typing them out again. Like I said, any info re purpose/value/usefulness would be great for me and other prospective buyers.

Well that idea seems to have gone like the proverbial lead balloon... 45 views and not a single comment or recommendation.

Okay, I'll try something more specific. Are the B&O speakers worth the ?525 extra with the basic stereo package? I like my music and will definitely be going for the AMI option.

you may need to wait a little longer for replies - Q5 sales are a little slow, so the forum is still pretty young.

Personally I always upgrade the Stereo in every car I buy - generally speaking the std system is designed to be poor in comparison so people will buy the upgrade, HOWEVER (and its a big however) music/sound is always a subjective subject. If you have an ear for Audio, then upgrade - you will probably find yourself even criticising the upgrade, so imagine how the std system would be.

?525 is always too much imho as the upgrade should be standard in a premium car, however compared to other manufacturers its about the right price

Go for it

Thanks for the reply kaine. Was at the dealer this morning, haggling on price. I specifically told him to price for the B&O upgrade but it wasn't until I got home and looked at the print-out that I saw that he had omitted to include it in the quote. Can't help suspecting that he did it deliberately as I was pushing him to get close to a broker quote i had with me.

I take the point re the lack of info due to the newness of the car. Lots of conflicting info about too. Dealer quoted me ?210 for front and rear flaps (!) but people here and on other forums have been told that there are no flaps to fit the S-line...
