Hi everyone just wanted to share a few findings ...
ive got a new 2.0tdi
virtually identical to my old one just a few more toys in the new one
my 1st one was a oct 12 bulid and this one is a may13 build and i cant believe the difference between both cars.

Both have their good points and bad points. ill list the ones i can think of

Old car (i covered 5000m from new) ....

Fors
engine really quiet, could hardly hear it inside
Road noise , only heard between 70-80mph (michelin latitude tyres)
Suspension felt great, firm but not to hard if you know what i mean
Gearbox - really really smooth

Against
Average mpg 27
2 break downs within 1000 miles (adblue)
nav screen would flicker when start stop was activate
Steering creaked
Seats showing signs of wear after just 1000m
braking guard would flag up a warning randomly just driving on a quiet road.
Drivers door didnt quite line up correctly

New car ( so far 1000 miles)

Fors
Average mpg 34mpg
Different screen, much clearer and brighter
New clocks (speedo) makes more sense
no signs of wear on seats yet (1000m)
Steering quiter
More toys .. i would defo recommend advanced key and flat bottomed wheel (Hill assist abit redundant in my opinion)

Against
Engine is so noisy , horrible bearing type sound
Gearbox can be clunky and no where near as responsive (slowing down at lights is no were near as smooth)
Road noise is driving me insane ...above 25mph and its there ! (goodyear tyres this time round)
Suspension feels really hard
Annoying crackle/distortion from BandO speakers (very slight)
Rear door check straps clunk
Center armrest quite stiff and notchy when moving (old car was smooth and notches close together ?)

Well as you can see, both cars have their plus and minus`s , loads of inconsistencies in the build but overall i think its a great looking car and we enjoy it.

Hi Cruiser, I'm surprised at the variations in build quality, we had a rattle from the dash with our 2009 MY car which turned out to be a wiring connection that had popped out and was knocking which was rectified by the dealer and then just before we handed the car back noticed some loss of pixels on the MMI screen - I'd want to discuss the engine / gearbox issues with your dealer - we never had any drivetrain issues in 56K in our old car

Screen is a higher res now - perviously you had MMI high and low.
Engines have been changed too, surprised the newer one is more though, i would have expected the reverse.

Interesting comparison however.

what size wheels and tyres do you have in your new car versus old one.

Yeah thats more what i was getting to. Most of the issues arent really a huge problem, just wanted to point out the differences.
If i hadnt driven a new one for the past 5 months then most of the things i noted i prob wouldnt have noticed.

i was just surprised at how different the builds were in comparison, as snow man said i too would have expected the reverse.

The dealer assures me they had better feedback with the good year tyres thats why they changed , i beg to differ prob more to do with cost. The michelins were far quiter !!
