By way of introduction... new to the forum, first time Audi owner having taken delivery of Q5 2.0L Quattro S-tronic in May of 2012 and well pleased with comfort, economy and performance. Particularly impressed with comfort, economy and performance in towing our caravan (1820kg GTM) having travelled 30,000k to date, 60% of which has been with the caravan in tow.

Currently researching the fitting of a 17" full spare wheel, upright in the boot area and would appreciate any advice from fellow forum members of mounting a 17" full spare. Dimensionally the wheel will fit but the secure (& legal) mounting in an upright position is my challenge. The intent is to use the forward cargo restraining point in the boot behind the driver and the use of a side mounting point to a chassis member (beyond where currently there is a plastic hook) with the section of the rear seat behind the driver folded forward. My major concern at this point is adapting a mounting point, behind the plastic hook, on the chassis member which is currently out of sight.

Hi Denis, Welcome to the forum.

Have you discounted raising the boot floor to accomodate a full size spare? Have you thought of mounting a fixing in the horizontal plane to replicate the one which is mounted vetically in the boot floor
Just a suggestion, good luck.
