Hi all

I know this topic is been asked alot but could someone please clear this up for me.

We ordered our q5 beginning of feb, been given a build week of week 20.

Will this be 2011 spec? I get the impression it may have the stop/start on the new spec?

We wanted it in Sept, were told when we ordered car it would be here Aug/Sept, dealer said there is no way it could arrive before June, when he said the new spec will be rolled out. Wife was wanting to wait for the new reg in Sept.

So the big question, if it is built wk 20 and does arrive in June, will it 2010 or 2011 spec?

Many thanks

Thanks 4 the speedy reply, asked the dealer and he said he's been given no info on the 2011 spec but hes not exspecting any major changes.

I forgot to ask, do you know if all the Q5's have an AUX port in the armrest? If so can an ipod be connected through it? We havent added the AMI as an option.

Cheers

not to sure about the aux point in the arm rest there is an aux-in socket as standard, also depending on wether you have the sat-nav there is either one or two sd card slot which you can put your music onto.if you do connect an ipod to the aux in you wont be able to control it through the steering wheel or stereo.

i have the standard sound system (no sat nav or B&O). There is one SD card slot on the dash. The standard aux port is located in the armrest between the two front seats. It can be a little tricky to use if you have CDs in the armrest cubby hole, but you should only need to move one to plug the Ipod in.
As previously mentioned, the Ipod cannot be controlled from the MMI, you have to use the ipod controls, which isn't a great problem providing the cable you use to connect it is long enough. You could always get an extension cable from Poundland (where i got mine from) to extend the aux port if required.

Can you put music on the sd card and then select the tracks etc via steering wheel. Will the tracks display on the dash also. Where do you get the sd card. Apologies but I am not up to speed on these issues.

You can put music on the SD card, from what I am told the car will handle up to 32Gb cards, but some forum members have reported issues at this capacity. 16Gb is a nice compromise between capacity and cost. They are freely available from many places, amazon.co.uk or play.com are good places to pick up cheap SD cards. I haven't got round to adding my music to an SD card, so can't confirm exactly how the MMI will display it, but i think you can select via the steering wheel. Many other forum members have done this though and i'm sure they will be able to assist in explaining how it works. There are a few old posts from last year discussing this if you get chance to look.

You do have to structure the files on the SD card in a particular way will so many sub-folders in each folders.

We had sat nav on my wifes TT and that had 2 SD card slots, I just transfered the music onto them and it played great through the sound system.
Yes you could change the tracks via the steering wheel.

We paid for the ipod connection in the TT and it was a complete load of crap, it didn't show up your track details on the screen(but now i believe it does), where as the music on the SD card showed up on screen and on the DIS display infront of you the track name etc.

cheers.

I'll search them out and have a read.

I'm not sure why people would bother with AMI when this is built in and seemingly easier
I agree, AMI was a wasted option as the SD card interface gives you all the same functionality as AMI + an iPod but it's more convenient. The only thing you can do with AMI that might be considered beneficial is the ability to plug in a nice big external HDD - but I don't think even this justifies ticking the AMI box.
