Hi All,

Any 8R owners updated they're MMI recently or done it before?

I can live with my MMI for now, just really need the latest maps as things have changed allot since 2013 :).

I've found where I can download all the software I Just don't wanna mess it up so if anyone can help with a step by step instructions I'd appreciate that!

Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean? I joined up yesterday and got my Q5 last month for me and my family. Come from a Korean car and love the Q5
My post was perfectly clear and a warning to other forum users. I am sorry if it offends you
Repeated forced regen was not reducing the DPF build up or extinguishing the faults causing glow plug warning. I phoned my local TerraClean agent this morning and he came to my home this afternoon and SUCCESS :) View attachment 12974
Great! 🥳🙌🏽
I used thenavman.com a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm. I was very happy with the results
How long did it take?

Was around 2 hours. Left it running on the drive for a bit and washed it.
OK thats allot quicker than @missile experience, i wonder why that could be 🤔 … i think i may just pay Audi to do it.

It could be down to how many firmware updates are required prior to updating the maps etc. I think I had to do 4 or 5 on my A4. It was that which took the time.
Yeh that makes sense, i’m pretty sure mine needs updates since 2013 so would probably be on the longer side of updating.
From what I was told, the newer ones take less time than the older systems. I was told I have a 3G+ system..... whatever that means!
I have a HN+ which is the same as the 3G+ according to their website, so may be quicker but my concern is if i have to do multiple updates which presume is what happened to missile i’ll need to use my battery charger, but hopefully it will last long enough.

I noticed if i park up and leave the stereo on it only lasts about 15-20mins before turning it’s self off.
send them a message. A guy called ben or dan i (i think) seemed pretty helpful when i didn't have a clue.

Is there any advantage to updating the MMI other than the maps?
Yes as they make improvements to the firmware

This doesn’t really answer my question. What updates to the firmware and why would I be bothered about getting them?

Like with a.n.other software, updates will include improvements and fixes for bugs. I would suggest they would not issue an update unless it was beneficial. You could ask Audi if you need precise info, but I doubt they will know.

Doesn't seem like the sort of thing you'd want to pay for necessarily, unless you had a specific problem that needed resolving. Just making sure I'm not missing out on something here.

Agreed. Unless you are updating the maps, I would not bother.

Just had an offer from my local dealer which included software update:
