Unable to read MMI display sometimes during daylight hours. Perfect at night.

Have read on other forums there are potentially two possible causes :-

1.backlight issues
2. anti glare coating has been removed.

I have turned the display to maximum brightness setting but issues remain with direct sunlight on screen.

Current version info taken from MMI settings:

Radio: 8T2035186P
Display No. 8T0919603A
HW: H01
SW: 0310

Car has AMI and mobile prep low.

My first option is to remove outer surround and place screen protector on unit.

If that does not resolve issue what equivalent display units can I pick up from ebay to replace?

Swapped out for 2nd hand unit - Back to full brightness.

Method.

Carefully prise off silver bezel surround.
Remove black trim housing hazard warning light - no need to disconnect.
Using Torx driver - remove 4 OFF screws from display.
Remove unit from dash - Unplug single cable from back.
Reverse procedure for fitting new screen.

Thanks for update. It's a shame that you suffered the challenge in the first place. Well done in resolving!
