Hi,

I have an issue with the ignition lock on my Q5.

Whilst my wife was driving, the keys fell out of the ignition lock. Now the lock is temperamental. Sometimes the key lock functions correctly, but most times I get a warning and a key with a red cross.

She has several heavy keys on her key ring and I suspect that this has caused the issue. She has removed the extra keys, but I suspect the damage is done.

Anyone had a similar issue, advice or suggestions or am I looking at an expensive visit to the dealer?

I did a search and this is the only relevant thread I could find>

They must be some seriously heavy keys to pull the key out.

The above thread is a useful tip regarding keeping the key clean as it recharges the battery whilst in the ignition via a groove on the side.

I only ever have the ignition key on its own. Jangling keys would drive me nuts ;-)
