FOLKS

I do hope Iam wrong but my nice new S Line is due for delivery on 25th march. Great

Went to dealer and asked about getting a handsfree phone insatlled via my MFSW and was told no chance. Iam infomed that as the car was not fitted in the factory with any phone preparation I could not get a phone!!!!

The dealer then told me it would be ?1000 to get one fitted!!!

I have had many permium cars and all have had Noika advanced car kits fitted no problem via the radio. Audi tell it all about the CAN BUS wiring. Why did audi not make it clear that phones cannot be installed post factory build.

I have manged to identify a Fiscon kit from germany but there are issues about re programming the car computer and issues with warranty.

Tell me Iam wrong and it is dead simple to get a handfree car kit fitted to the radio and multi function steering wheel.

I will be so pissed off if this cannot be done

Still got 18 inches of snow and audi tell me it will be ?1989 for 4 alloys and winter tyres.

Not happy and still not an Audi owner. Lets hope the car is good

If you find an alternate source of winter alloys / tires please post details as I am in the same position.

Ridiculous price quoted from Audi, and most alternative suppliers don't have the Q5 alloys on their lists, so its difficult to be sure what are suitable.

The wheel etc is all pre-wired, i understand all you need is the control box for th bluetooth to be installed, its somthing i am considering too when mine is delivered as ?245 is obscene for bluetooth from the factory.....i'd rather live without.

the ?245 option is not as easy as it sound. My car is not prepared for a phone so this part does not fit! So Audi tell me. I need other things which will be circa ?1000.

I hope iam wrong can any body tell me

Although I haven?t personally used them I understand that this company specialises in retro-fits to the Audi MMI system:

Hopefully you may find them far cheaper than the quoted dealer price.

The Audi MMI system is complex and highly proprietary ? hence why Audi can essentially charge so much for the peripherals. Also I suspect that very few 3rd party equivalents are available and, even if they were, their use would invalidate any Audi warranty.

Good luck, keep us posted on any progress with getting a hands-free system installed.

Folks

Iam going for a FISCON kit that will work via the MMI and DIS. It apperas to be pretty well specified.

My only real concern is the need to re code the computer to tell the car that I now have a phone installed. Audi are very very reluctant but other VW garages seem more relaxed using VAG COM etc

Audi to be frank are being akward and seem to try to claim that phones and audi do not go together. You must have a factory install!!!!!

I do not want a parrot as it does not charge and does not use the DIS or MMI.

I wish Audi had been upfront and explained that they would shaft you re price if you wanted to install after delivery.

My S line is being run in well doing 46 mpg on last run and an ave of 37mpg over first 500 miles. Keeping rpm below 2000 and with vey occasional spurts upto 2500 rpm. Things looking good for an ave of +40 mpg
