Just cleaning my pride and joy for the first time and noticed that, within the rear lighting arrays set into the bumper corners, there appears to be both an indicator and brake light - this is confirmed in the Owners Manual section on changing light bulbs. Curiosity made me check if these were active and they are not (on my car). Are these "enabled" in different markets or for cars that don't have the LED rear lights.

Apologies if this is a total newbie question, but just curious.

BTW - mine is 2.0l TDI Sline UK spec, Jan 10 build if that helps.

The rear lights replicate the ones on the tailgate. If the tailgate is up then the bumper lights will work but only if the tailgate ones were operational anyway.

i.e rear lights will transfer if the lights are on, indicators will flash if hazards are on. Not sure about brake lights though.

Thanks acb - that makes sense. Very cool and clever of Audi. Just been out to the car and checked; brake light function does transfer as well.

My curiosity is satisfied.
