Apologies If this has discussed before........

Just caught an old Fifth Gear from last year on Discovery Turbo, Team testing the SQ ,,..It got a pretty good review comments good on the understated appearance, Interior design/build quality, engine and the looks..

The team then tried to match Audi's claimed 0-62mph time of 5.1 sec, first attempt came In at 6.3sec, they then had another crack at It with presenter Jonny Smith... flooring the accelerator whilst standing hard on the brakes for a flying start...this produced 5.4sec not bad for a near 2 tonne SUV..

They did go on to say very few cars actually match the manufacturers claimed 0-62 time..a bit like the MPH figures I guess... all the same pretty Impressive stuff me thinks..

BTW SQ scored 32.5/40..all gave It 8 out of 10, with Jonny 8.5..

i dont recall the fuel level - i think i said it in the post, but i really can't recall now.
I just used LC i don't have a clue what it does to the clutch, and the car was relatively new - so the egine could be tight, if i ever get home i might try it again now the car has some more miles on as a compare.

But i think what all will agree is there are sooooo many variables that can make soooo many differences.
German cars are generally spec'd much lower, so weight is no doubt one factor, they prob use a 3st driver too during the official test..

The car they tested had 21's and pano roof as well which I bet the car audi used to get the 5.1 figure didnt have either, plus camera/sound/recording equipment.....

Ok, forget 0-62 in seconds, how about how many smiles between 0 and 62? Does a 650Nm push in the back feel good? What else can you buy for the money and get that level of performance and practicality?

Oh dear I'm dire danger of become a thread troll, suspect I'll be forgiven though?

Reactions: ?? SQ-BEAST ??

Its just a meaning less number - the taxi i was in gave me the same push in the back feel as the SQ as he weaved through the traffic in Wan Chai!
Its perfect for the school run and up and down the motorway however. Great MPG, over taking power (as long as you don't have to wait for the kick down which is too slow) and a half decent boot.

Someone could always to do the VAGCOM numbers... see if they can beat 5G

A taxi with 650Nm?? Seems a little unlikely SM. Yours feelings must not be too finely toned!

It will all come out in the wash eventually that actually what Snowman was riding in was a rickshaw lol

Not all are crowns, but this was... complete with rumbling from the rear.
Packed - depends on the direction you are going, Causeway base is a nightmare and esp around the tunnel as everyone heads for that tunnel due to the pricing structure of the 3. And they weave like hell.

We were joking afterwards we were sure he was a crazy triad..

I am living/working in Hong Kong with my office in Wan Chai, I think I have been in that taxi a few times ha ha! I think the next generation of F1 driver will be from Asia as these guys have zero fear, can multi task like nothing I have seen and cover road at an alarming pace!

Back on topic I saw the 0-62 test, in my opinion with a standard SQ5, low fuel load and LC I guess you can get as close to 5.1 as f**k is to swearing, or as matters in the real world!
I love the urgency you feel on the SQ by pressing the accelerator just a little, the torque from such a diesel lump is so much more of a rush than trying to scream say a petrol M3 to get similar performance.

Was sad to hear recently that Joe Bananas has apparently closed down - a legendary bar...especially at Rugby 7's time.
Are Popeye 1 and 2 across the road still going by any chance?? Been a couple of years since I was last in town.
PS. Faster cab drivers in Shanghai... was there a couple of weeks ago and nearly sh@t myself on the journey from airport to hotel.
PPS Have double sh@t myself with Rome cab drivers though...just lunatics.

Rome cab drivers are mental. We had one out to the airport, ambulance behind us on blue lights, he used the rest of the traffic stopping and pulling in to his advantage and squeezed through in front of the ambulance.
