My new MY23 SQ5 TDI has had 3L oil top up since new, drove only 5000kms by then. Initially I was I told new car is using factory oil which is thinner and good for the new engine. It may burns extra little bit more. After my first service due in this May 2024, factory oil will be replaced and things may improve.
Yesterday the car finished with an oil consumption test showed oil brunt 0.62L in 1000kms while on thinner factory oil. Has any one had similar problem in Australia with the diesel engine SQ5? I am afraid this problem will continue even after the first service.
I don’t know if I should keep this car. Especially if a new car already developed excessive oil consumption? Can I ask for compensation for this?
Many thanks for your suggestion in advance.
