Having had a lot of Audi cars for quite some years and especially the diesels I've noticed, repeatedly in successive vehicles, that after a certain mileage (typically around 20,000 on the 2.0 TDI) and it seems 11,000 on this SQ5 that the engine performance suddenly increases quite markedly.
It would make sense given that the greater majority of drivers have much in the way of mechanical sympathy and will thrape the nuts of a motor from day one that Audi could inhibit maximum engine performance until a decent bedding-in distance had been covered to protect the motor and decrease premature failure rates.
I've noticed in the last couple of days that the SQ5 has acquired a new personality, in normal D mode it has become a rev-happy rocket and it wasn't exactly tardy before but now with minimal encouragement it will hoof off to the horizon with considerable haste, fuel economy remains roughly the same though I suspect it's going to accelerate tyre wear still faster (one has to pay for one's pleasures of course). I find this interesting because like others I'd noted that whilst properly quick the SQ5 never seemed like a real world 0-62/5.1s kind of car, I'm much less convinced of that now.
Any of the other higher mileage SQ drivers experienced this?
